Japanese Attitudes Toward American Business Involvement In Japan: An Empirical Investigation, Syed H. Akhter, Toshikazu Hamada
Marketing Faculty Research and Publications
Examines Japanese attitudes and behavioral intentions toward US products, firms, and government. Findings indicate that, although Japanese consumers do not regard US products as better than competing Japanese products, they still tend to purchase them. Furthermore, they want their government to keep an eye on US businesses, but not to set limits on market share and investments or restrict repatriation of profits. The respondents were open to the idea of Japanese scientists and firms sharing their technology with US firms. Presents the strategic implications of these findings.

Marketing Metrics To The American Public: An Interview With Dr. Eugene Laczniak, V. Mickevicius, Gene R. Laczniak
Marketing Faculty Research and Publications
One of the major problems confronting the metrication movement is the general lack of publicity and public awareness of the scope of the metric system. The work already performed as well as that still needed to be done to bring metrication to fruition needs considerable attention. The application of marketing principles and programs can have a potentially great effect on the success of the work of metric activists. During the course of this interview, conducted in late November, 1977, Dr. Eugene Laczniak suggests some of the ways in which marketing can be made to work for metrication; and he offers …

Inflation and recession, resource shortages, a web of ecological problems, changing social values, a proliferation of business regulations, and other developments of recent years have taken their toll on American business. Such changes in the external environment of business have stimulated academicians and writers for the general media to address questions such as: "Can Capitalism Survive:"; "Can Marketing Survive?"; "Will Shortages Bankrupt the Marketing Concept?" Others are directing their efforts to forecasting the uncertain future and the burgeoning discipline of "futures research."
This article reports on the application of one futures research technique-the solicitation of expert opinion-to the field of …

A Study Of The Outdoor Poster And The Car Card, Milo Bergo
A Study Of The Outdoor Poster And The Car Card, Milo Bergo
Bachelors’ Theses
Outdoor advertising as a business phenomenon is one of the most interesting a student of modern business is likely to encounter. It has evolved into a great commercial force from obscure, crude beginnings. During its growth bitter opposition has been expressed by civic societies and associations, which have instigated reform movements having as their end the abolition of this advertising medium. More recently, however, the organized eradication of antagonizing characteristics has tended to lessen the opposition and hasten the growth of outdoor advertising.
Today outdoor advertising is one of the major selling media of the commercial world; but because of …

Banks have only recently cashed in on advertising. Large hanks in all sections of the United States have been notably increasing both the frequency and size of their current advertisements for the comparatively brief period of the pest ten years. Until the Great War was thrust upon our nation, advertising was looked upon by bankers, as well as other business men, as an expense, while at present, it is quite generally regarded in its proper light.... as an investment.
The Natural Right To A Living Wage And The Ethical Means Of Acquiring It, Edward Stanley Bullock
The Natural Right To A Living Wage And The Ethical Means Of Acquiring It, Edward Stanley Bullock
Bachelors’ Theses
Too much attention and research cannot be given to so vital a question as Unionism and Strikes. The newspapers are filled daily with new outbreaks in labor and controversies between employer and employee. Employees are continually striving to better their living conditions by asking for a living wage, while employers are striving to cut down expenses by trying to pay only a minimum wage. This wage is arrived at through bargaining between the employer and employees without any consideration for the vital factors that enter in when calculating an honest and living wage.

The purpose of this thesis is to show the development of the court's doctrine of valuation as to what constitutes a public utility; the basis of valuation upon which the court would from time to time declare a fair return on the investment. The second part of the thesis tries to show the corrupt practices that are going on in the different corporations in reference to the padding of the rate base. Here the primary source employed was the Mack Investigation Report in the New York Times during February, March, May, June, September, October, November and December, 1935 and February …

The Protection Of The Laborer As A Creditor, Thomas F. Desmond
Bachelors’ Theses
The economic well being of any person, family, or social group is a vital factor which influences every apparent activity of their existence. At the same time, this financial status plays an important part in determining the mental .outlooks and ultimate status of both the individual and the organization. This monetary determination is peculiar to Western civilization, with the American people probably leading in the emphasis upon financial position. The goal set up and considered as. success- seems to be the acquisition of a fortune, with happiness in life, family considerations, or philanthropic endeavor regarded as secondary .and worthy of …

The Tendencies Toward Public Ownership Of Railroads In The United States, Russell Robert Windau
The Tendencies Toward Public Ownership Of Railroads In The United States, Russell Robert Windau
Bachelors’ Theses
The importance of our railroads can be better grasped if their magnitude is appreciated. Just how extensive is the railroad system of the United States? One can answer this question best by using a few comparisons. The railroads of the United States represent one tenth of our national wealth. They are equal to all the combined value of the farmland in the country. Their worth is equal to more than two-thirds of all the minerals, oil and gas in the country. All the privately owned timber in the United States would only buy a half interest in our railroads. The …
