Game design elements are major factors in gamification. In this study, we seek to examine the impact of game design elements on users’ in-game purchases of virtual goods. The purchase of virtual goods due to players’ intrinsic motivation has been studied but little is known about the purchase of virtual goods due to the use of game design elements (i.e., Points, Leaderboards and Badges) built into the games. Extending our knowledge to this realm can help researchers to better understand gamers’ behaviors, and game designers and marketers to better promote and sell virtual goods in online games.

The paper did a comparative analysis of the carbon emission and European Union Emission Trading Surcharges (EU ETS) of South African Airways (SAA) current fleet that used aviation jet A1 fuel and the same fleet if it had used a 25% bio-fuel ‘drop in’ for the European routes within the first quarter of the 2014 flying year (FY 14). Operational data in terms of the flight scheduled, aircraft type, total time enroute, route stage length, passenger estimates were obtained through SAA’s flight operations website. An independent t–test was conducted to compare means of the emissions. The mean carbon dioxide …

Part I will give a short background of the time leading up to Verizon’s purchase of the C-Block. It will then review the actual rules of the agreement between Verizon and the FCC at the time of the purchase, as well as the pertinent history following the purchase.
