Leadership Strategies To Maintain Hospital Business Office Productivity During A Merger, Scott Alan Hughes
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
In 2017, healthcare system mergers in the United States set a record with 115 deals made and 11 involved sellers with net revenue of at least $1 billion; however, it is common for hospital business office productivity to suffer during a merger. Grounded in the theory of business process re-engineering, the purpose of this qualitative single case study was to explore strategies hospital leaders in the southeastern United States used to maintain business office productivity as they completed a merger. A review of documentation from archival records supplemented in-depth interviews with 7 purposively selected hospital leaders. Yin’s 5-step analysis guided …
Understanding The Relationship Between Smartphone Addiction And Well-Being: The Mediation Of Mindfulness And Moderation Of Hedonic Apps, Murad Moqbel
Information Systems Faculty Publications
The advent of handheld devices such as smartphones has changed the way we connect, navigate, and entertain and has been recognized as a revolution in information and communication technologies (ICT). Despite the plethora of benefits of this new technology, concerns have been raised about the unintended adverse consequences to well-being in the form of addictive use. Past research has linked smartphone addiction to negative consequences, but it remains unclear how, why, and when (i.e., under what conditions) smartphone addiction, in turn, is related to well-being. This study attempts to fill this void by addressing these questions through the lens of …

Stress And Cancer Treatment: How A Family’S Adaptability And Cohesion Affects Financial Stress, Emily Marie Johnson
Stress And Cancer Treatment: How A Family’S Adaptability And Cohesion Affects Financial Stress, Emily Marie Johnson
Theses and Dissertations--Family Sciences
According to the American Cancer Society (2019), it is estimated that 1,762,450 new cancer diagnoses occurred in 2019 in the United States. Currently, cancer remains one of the leading causes of death worldwide (American Cancer Society, 2019). As cancer affects the family, roles within the family will shift (e.g., transitioning to a caregiving relationship), causing each family member to adapt. With the costs of cancer steadily increasing, this potentially leaves a devastating impact on the family. When considering family function in terms of Family Systems, John Rolland created the Family Systems Illness Model to explain how families adapt to an …

This study analyzed what foods are available during the dry months (hungry season) of May through October in the Nampula province of Mozambique to determine if it is possible to meet recommended levels of nutrients from purchasing and growing food. Three different levels of income were used to determine what percentage of the …

The study provides a contextual analysis of a coordinated care network launched in 2016 in southeastern Virginia for two samples of 1,512 and 375 veterans and their families. Weight Stigma In Different Aspects Of Life, Emanuel Noyola
Capstone Showcase
Weight stigma is discrimination or bias against any individual who is perceived to be overweight or obese. It has recently been recorded that the effects of weight discrimination have an influence on three major areas of life which include schools, the workplace, and personal relationships. This is important as weight discrimination was found to mostly have negative effects in all these areas but was also found to be sometimes beneficial in others, such as retail. Past research has also shown that the effects of weight discrimination are 37 times worse among obese females compared to obese males. One alarming setting …
