How Does Bpm Maturity Affect Process Performance?
How Does Bpm Maturity Affect Process Performance?
Communications of the IIMA
Organizations are increasingly confronted with the consequences of globalization, digitalization and disruptive (technological) developments. The constantly changing and dynamic social, economic, and political environment as well as the public opinion require public organizations to deliver effective and efficient services. These trends also apply to Dutch housing associations who are working together with suppliers in the process of property maintenance to increase quality and to reduce costs. Business Process Management (BPM) has the prospect of enhancing the performance of maintenance processes. Previous studies have confirmed a positive relationship between BPM-maturity and Process performance. However, in different contexts this relation is sometimes …

U.S. Department Of The Interior: Sharing Fair Data Fairly, Jason Earl Duke
Theses and Dissertations
Thousands of scientists, researchers, students, and organizations consume government-produced data daily that are often difficult to locate because they are collected and stored in multiples at varying levels of quality, inhibiting their usefulness for data science investigations and analysis. To address these challenges, United States Government agencies and bureaus have been implementing Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR) Data Principles into their data-sharing strategies since 2016. However, differing interpretations of the FAIR Data Principles lead to data that must be documented uniformly and adequately integrated for reuse. Select datasets have been analyzed with peer-reviewed FAIR assessment tools to establish a …

The School of Oriental and African Studies seemed a symbol of stability when it celebrated its centenary in 2016 by taking over and renovating the University of London’s imposing Senate House building in central London. It was a bold move to lure the best students. But just three years later its future has become much shakier, with its undergraduate intake down 40 percent and a £7m operating deficit. “The competition is brutal,” says Professor Stephen Hopgood, Soas’s international pro-director. “We are small and specialist, and if undergraduate fees are cut, it’s going to be very hard for an institution of …

The demand for cybersecurity professionals is high—especially for women. Efforts to attract women to cybersecurity careers are not meeting goals of equal representation. Researchers have not yet identified a theoretical rationale for the differences. To provide a theoretical rationale, we investigate barriers to a cybersecurity career based on career stages defined by Super (1957) and gender. Concerns about a cybersecurity career differ between girls, young adult women, and mid-career women. Girls feel an un- awareness of opportunity and requisite training, whereas adult women are concerned that they will be undervalued in a male-dominated field, and mid-career women are concerned about …

The analysis of spoken language has been integral to a breadth of research in social science and beyond. However, for analyses to occur with efficiency, language must be in the form of computer-readable text. Historically, the speech-to-text process has occurred manually using human transcriptionists. Automated speech recognition (ASR) is advertised as an efficient and inexpensive alternative, but research shows this method of speech-to-text is prone to error. This paper investigates the viability of using error prone ASR transcriptions as part of the methodological process of language analysis. Results show that at the individual feature level, analysis of ASR transcriptions differ …

This research claims that dynamic strategies demanded by today’s digital environment exacerbate inconsistency between an organization’s digital transformation efforts and its enterprise architecture (EA) planning process. This phenomenon leads to redundant investments, delayed implementation, and frequent failures in digital transformation projects. In order to investigate this inconsistency, we apply the socioeconomic approach to management (SEAM) theory. Through critical analysis of four case studies in a large manufacturing organization, we clarify the relationship between digital transformation and EA and reveal the dysfunction in strategic implementation from a SEAM and business process management (BPM) perspective. In practice, this research integrates digital transformation …
