Existing techniques for emergency preparedness planning and training fail or lack the ability to convey training on a broad scale and timely fashion. Skill sets that are required for planning, mitigation, response and recovery issues are lost through information overload or failure to identify other channels in which to convey the information. In order to resolve some of the issues with currently existing methods such as tabletop training exercises (TTX), instructional video learning and full-scale exercises we can turn to virtual environments.

As XML becomes a standard for communications between distributed heterogeneous machines, many schools plan to implement Web Services systems using the XML e-transcript (electronic transcript) standard. We propose a framework that supports both XML e-transcript Web Services and existing EDI e-transcript systems. The framework uses the workflow engine to exploit the benefits of workflow management mechanisms. The workflow engine manages the e-transcript business process by enacting and completing the tasks and sub-processes within the main business process. The Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model is a novel way of delivering software applications. In this paper, we present an analytical model to study the competition between the SaaS and the traditional COTS (Commercial off-the-shelf) software. The main research goal is to analyze the pricing strategy of the SaaS in a competitive setting. The model captures the most salient differences between the SaaS and COTS, including their distinct pricing structures, user initial setup costs, system customization levels, and delivery channels. Excel spreadsheets have been used in many classrooms to teach modeling and analysis of real business problems. This can be done with relative ease but often the modeling approach may be inappropriate and the analysis results not easily implemented. In this article, we illustrate these difficulties with the modeling of the number of equipment required in future years, given demand (historical and projected) and the amount of equipment held. In this paper we develop a learning-mediated model of offshore software project productivity and quality to examine whether widely adopted structured software processes are effective in mitigating the negative effects of work dispersion in offshore software development. This dissertation investigated the impact of cultural differences in temporal perception on globally dispersed software development teams. Literature and anecdotal evidence suggest that these temporal differences affect individual communication quality, which in turn will affect individual satisfaction and trust within global teams. The primary objective of this study is to test the simultaneous relationship between the firm value, the corporate governance practice, and the ownership structure on a sample of 114 companies quoted in the Jakarta Stoke Exchange (JSX). The study finds that the corporate governance practice fails to affect the firm value, but the firm value is a positive predictor of corporate governance practice. Further, the influence of corporate governance practice on the firm value becomes less when the wedge of the firm becomes higher. The study examines causes of performance decline and turnaround strategies of Indonesia following the 1997/1998 financial crisis. The sample chosen was from the large manufacturing firms in Indonesia. The result of this study found that competitive changes, poor management, high cost structure, economic changes and failure of major projects were the significant factors contributing to the performance decline during the crisis of 1997/1998, while restructuring strategies was important strategies adapted to turnaround firms.

The paper investigates measurement invariance of customer value construct across different populations (managers and customers). The purpose in doing this analysis is that whether the constructs were being mapped from two disctinct groups. Data for this study comes from two samples: hotel managers and hotel guests. All classified hotels across Indonesia were included. A total 231 managers and 385 customers responded to the survey. The results indicate the cocnceptualisation and operationalisation of customer value developed in this study, does not significantly generalise across managers and customers. The purpose of this study was to empirically evaluate the influence of role stressors (role conflict and role ambiguity) in predicting job performace (task performance and contextual performance). Survey data was drawn from a sample of 136 customer-contact employees within the telecomunications industry of Malaysia. Results of the regression analyses showed that role conflict alone had a significant and negative relationship with task performance. On the other hand, both role conflict and role ambiguity were found to be significantly and negatively related to contextual performance. Implications of the findings and directions for future research are discussed.

While IS researchers have often opined that leadership is important, a theoretical examination of leadership in the CIO context is lacking. We examine Leadership style in the light of the transformational leadership theory and its impact on organizational level variables such as CIO Role Effectiveness and IT ambidexterity, and individual level variables such as Leader-Member Exchange Relationship and the subordinate's general job satisfaction. Results indicate that contingent rewarding style impacted CIO role effectiveness, which in turn predicted IT ambidexterity. Transformational leadership was the strongest predictor of Leader-Member Exchange relationship, which in turn impacted job satisfaction.
