Diamonds belong to a unique product category whose perceived value is largely dependent on socially constructed beliefs. To explore the degree to which the physical properties of a diamond can be used to predict the diamond price, we perform data mining on a large dataset of loose diamonds scraped from an online diamond retailer. We find that diamond weight, color and clarity are the key characteristics that influence diamond prices. The data mining results also suggest a high degree of subjectivity in diamond pricing that may reflect price obfuscation strategies employed by diamond retailers.

This study of sustainable supply chain management practices and sustainability performance in the food industry was conducted at food companies in Iran. Data were gathered from 120 companies by means of a questionnaire; confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was used to test the questionnaire’s validity. Hypotheses were tested by path analysis. This research aims to investigate why there is low insurance purchasing in Indonesia. The research framework adopts the theory of planned behaviour in exploring the insurance purchase intention behaviour of Indonesians. Furthermore, this research introduces health value as the moderating variable on the relationship between attitude towards insurance purchasing and the intention to purchase insurance. We take 311 insurance holders from five Indonesian big cities as the sample. The results show that perceived risk and perceived usefulness play important roles in the attitude towards the intention to purchase health insurance.
