Study abroad programs have become increasingly popular in recent years as vehicles to prepare students for the global work environment. This paper describes a perspective on how to maximize teaching effectiveness in these programs via developing personal relationships. Based on the teaching of a Principles of Marketing course in Florence, Italy, the author discusses how the special characteristics of the study abroad program enabled the formation of deep faculty-student and peer relationships. Higher education plays a critical role in driving an innovative economy by equipping students with knowledge and skills demanded by the workforce. While researchers and practitioners have developed data systems to track detailed occupational skills, such as those established by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), much less effort has been made to document which of these skills are being developed in higher education at a similar granularity. The Influence Of Organizational Culture On Mission Drift In A Christian University, Mark Reddy

This study addressed a critical gap in the literature by investigating the relationship between organizational culture and mission drift within Christian higher education. While mission drift has been widely discussed in popular press, limited academic research has explored the factors influencing it, particularly organizational culture. Utilizing the Denison Organizational Culture Survey (DOCS) and the Mission Drift Survey, this study evaluated how culture influences mission clarity and safeguards against mission drift in a Christian university. Findings reveal that consistency and mission from the DOCS are strong predictors of mission clarity, with both showing statistical significance (p < .001). In addition, the DOCS elements predicted safeguards against mission drift through consistency and mission at the significance level of p < .05. The study’s results highlight the importance of consistency and mission in combating mission drift, offering Christian higher education institutions practical insights for reinforcing their foundational goals. Additionally, the research contributed to validating the Mission Drift Survey in an academic context, broadening its potential application beyond business and into higher education sectors. This topic is growing, and further research is needed to expand on these findings and explore additional organizational cultural factors.

Most professionals leave the field due to job dissatisfaction, unhealthy work environments, high stress, and low morale (Marshall et al., 2016; Rosser & Javinar, 2003). Financial literacy is essential knowledge for recent college graduates to be able to manage a stable job, career, and personal wealth. This study examined the financial literacy of 228 college students (49.8% males; 50.2% females) at a regional public university in Eastern Kentucky. The participants were randomly invited to complete a 22-item online financial literacy survey, which was created based on the work of Cude et al. (2006). The survey contents included five demographic questions and 17 five-point Likert scales (1= strongly agree/ always, 5= strongly disagree/ never) to rate participants’ knowledge on investing, saving, budgeting, and credit.
