Specialized accreditation of higher education programs in recreation, park resources, and leisure services has evolved over the past 20 years; however; concerns can be raised regarding the ability of the current process to adequately measure quality. Comparisons are made with trends identified in the evolution of accreditation in healthcare and their implication to the future of accreditation. Recommendations are …

A Case Study On Strategies Adopted By A Medium Sized Property Development Company In Response To The Economic Crisis In 1997-1998, Thin Choy Woo
Student Works (2000-2009)
Epic is one way of describing Asia's economic development over the past decades. The once poverty stricken Asian countries metamorphosed into world class producers and dynamic markets. However, equally epic was the fall. In one almighty crash, the once mighty Asian economies toppled over as the next millennium grew closer. The prides, the hopes and the expectations buijt up by all those years of prosperity lay in shambles amid the accusatory pointing by critics who variously attributed the crisis to greed, over expansion, fiscal imprudence, corruption and deteriorating Asian values. It seemed that in the last two years, Asia could …
Knowledge Management And Organization In Malaysia, Koji Shiota
Knowledge Management And Organization In Malaysia, Koji Shiota
Student Works (2000-2009)
The term 'Industrial society' has been a proper one to explain the wide and deep influence of the industrialization to the society and the wealth of the country in 20th century. Its related concepts and theories such as division of labour, specialization, standardization, mass-production, learning curb, scale economy and others explained well the corporate competitiveness especially from the viewpoint of 'efficiency' and '(financial) capital'. After 1960s some people began to describe the new paradigm such as Daniel Bell's 'Postindustrial society' and Albin Tofler's 'The third wave.' These three decades we have seen the shift from industrial economy to service economy …
Health Care Financing In Malaysia, Zafar Ahmed
Health Care Financing In Malaysia, Zafar Ahmed
Student Works (2000-2009)
As the time passes the health care provision is getting more and more expensive. Traditionally the health care provision has been the duty of the governments, but because of increase in the cost of health care and fluctuation in the cost of health care, it is getting more difficult for the governments to maintain their role as health care provider. The governments want to become the regulators of health care services, rather than health care provider. The same is true for Malaysian government as well. This change of role is not that easy. Government has to consider many factors, the …

An Empirical Analysis Of The Critical Determinants Affecting Commitment And Performance Of The U. S. Firm In The South African Market: Apartheid Versus Post-Apartheid, Sonja Pollard Mitchell
Theses and Dissertations in Business Administration
Recognized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as one of the world's Big Emerging Markets (BEMs), South Africa has received vast attention from potential foreign investors (IRRC 1994) and has been recognized by scholars as an excellent base for research (Hofmeyr, Templer and Beaty 1994). Unfortunately, little is known about the export behavior of the foreign firm in South Africa (Calof and Viviers 1995) given the country's history of political, social and economic instability.
This dissertation is an effort to increase the understanding of the factors that contribute to the commitment and overall market performance of U.S. firms in South …

Abalone Aquaculture In Western Australia : Policy Guideline., Fisheries Western Australia.
Fisheries Management Papers
Experimental or commercial abalone aquaculture is being pursued in many countries with major investments in The United States, Taiwan, China and Korea as well as in Australia. The combined total abalone aquaculture production from China and Taiwan was reported to be in the order of 2,000 tonnes and continues to rise. As cultured ‘cocktail’ abalone are below the legal harvest size of wild abalone, there will be limited competition between aquaculture and the wild fisheries.

IIMB Management Review
Life will never be the same in the new millennium. Even more so in the case of advertising and public relations. All the rules of marketing and distribution of goods and services are being rewritten, what with the advent of sophisticated information and communication technologies on the one hand, and on the other the insatiable demands of customers and the everlasting quest of vendors to achieve cost economies in reaching their goods and services to the users. Round Table this time looks at some of these issues and suggests some leads. Anchored by Tara Sinha and Mithileshwar Jha, and with …
