งานวิจัยนี้เกิดจากผู้วิจัยตีความบทละครแนวสมจริงเรื่อง เธิร์สท์ ของ ยูจีน โอนีลล์ มีความคิดหลักและประเด็นสำคัญว่าด้วยความไร้แก่นสารของชีวิต ซึ่งเป็นแนวคิดของละครแนวแอบเสิร์ด ทำให้ผู้วิจัยเกิดคำถามว่า จะใช้กระบวนการกำกับการแสดงเพื่อสื่อสารความคิดจากแนวละครแอบเสิร์ดนี้ให้ออกมาในละครสมจริงได้อย่างไร ดังนั้น จึงมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาทดลองกระบวนการกำกับการแสดงที่เหมาะสมให้สื่อสารเพื่อตอบข้อคำถามดังกล่าว ผู้วิจัยใช้วิธีวิจัยเชิงสร้างสรรค์ วิเคราะห์รวบรวมข้อมูลที่เกี่ยวข้อง สร้างกรอบแนวคิดให้เข้าใจรายละเอียดของประเด็นดังกล่าวที่ซ่อนในเนื้อหาบทละคร แล้วนำมาวิเคราะห์ตีความตามหลักการสำหรับกำกับการแสดง และกำหนดแนวคิดงานออกแบบของผู้กำกับการแสดง รวบรวมเตรียมเป็นข้อมูลเพื่อกำกับการแสดง ในช่วงการวิเคราะห์ตีความและการฝึกซ้อม ผู้วิจัยใช้หลักแนวคิดของละครแอบเสิร์ดในการวิเคราะห์ตีความพฤติกรรมตัวละคร ประกอบกับหลักวิเคราะห์ตีความของ สตานิสลาฟสกี ใช้แบบฝึกหัดจินตนาการของแอดเลอร์ ใช้วิธีแนะนำการแสดงให้กับนักแสดงด้วยการเทียบเคียงเหตุการณ์ในเรื่องกับประสบการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นทั่วไป และใช้วิธีการซ้อมดำเนินผ่านฉากตามลำดับต่อเนื่อง เพื่อช่วยตรวจทานสร้างความเข้าใจแกนเงื่อนไขตัวละครให้กับนักแสดง อีกทั้งภาพรวมของจังหวะดำเนินเรื่องร่วมกับองค์ประกอบศิลป์ในการแสดง และทดลองเรียนรู้พัฒนาตลอดช่วงการฝึกซ้อมจนถึงขั้นแสดงผลงานละครต่อสาธารณะชน ผลวิจัยปรากฎว่า เมื่อผู้วิจัยมีกรอบแนวคิดประเด็นเรื่องความไร้แก่นสารของชีวิตมนุษย์ ช่วยเชื่อมโยงประกอบวิเคราะห์ตีความบทละคร ทำให้กระบวนการคิดของผู้วิจัยเข้าใจรายละเอียดในเนื้อหาของบทละครโดยเฉพาะความคิดหลักของเรื่องอย่างกระจ่าง และสร้างความมั่นใจให้กับผู้วิจัยเมื่อกำกับการแสดง สามารถสื่อสารเนื้อหาของบทละครแก่นักแสดง ตลอดจนผู้ชมละครเวทีให้รู้สึกร่วมไปตามรูปแบบนำเสนอละครสมจริงได้ นอกจากนี้ กระบวนวิธีวิจัยดังกล่าว อาจเป็นแนวทางและวิธีช่วยให้ผู้กำกับการแสดง ได้ฝึกหัดค้นหาความคิดหลักของเรื่องให้เข้าใจแม่นยำ ตระหนักกับสิ่งที่ต้องการสื่อสาร รวมทั้งลำดับความสำคัญโดยใช้ความคิดหลักนั้นนำทางค้นหารูปแบบกลวิธีนำเสนอได้อย่างมีทิศทางชัดเจนขึ้นด้วย

วิทยานิพนธ์เล่มนี้มีเนื้อหาเกี่ยวกับกระบวนการแก้ไขปัญหาการเป็นตัวละครและการอยู่ กับความต้องการของตัวละคร : กรณีศึกษาการแสดงเป็นตัวละคร “มาช่า” ในละครเวทีเรื่อง วานย่า และ ซอนย่า และ มาช่า และ สไปค์ (2555) ของ คริสโตเฟอร์ ดูแรง โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อฝึกฝนและพัฒนาทักษะการแสดงในการเป็นตัวละครและการอยู่กับความต้องการของตัวละครของนักแสดงและเพื่อค้นหาแนวทางแก้ไขปัญหาการเป็นตัวละครและการอยู่กับความต้องการตัวละครของนักแสดงในฐานะตัวละคร “มาช่า (Masha)” ในบทละครเวทีเรื่อง “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike” เนื่องจากผู้วิจัยยังมีประสบการณ์ด้านการแสดงไม่มากพอทำให้ผู้วิจัยประสบปัญหาในการแสดง 2 เรื่อง คือ 1.) การเป็นตัวละครหรือการเข้าถึงบทบาทของตัวละคร และ 2.) การอยู่กับความต้องการของตัวละคร โดยมีคำถามงานวิจัยว่า ผู้วิจัยจะสามารถพัฒนาทักษะการแสดงเรื่องการเป็นตัวละครเเละการอยู่กับความต้องการของตัวละครของนักแสดงในการแสดงบทละครเวทีเรื่อง “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike” ได้อย่างไรบ้าง ซึ่งในงานวิจัยชิ้นนี้ผู้วิจัยได้ค้นคว้าหาข้อมูล แนวคิด ทฤษฎี ของนักการละครตะวันตกที่ได้ร่ำเรียนจากศาสตร์ด้านการแสดงของหลักสูตรปริญญาโท ภาควิชาศิลปการละคร คณะอักษรศาสตร์ จุฬาลงกรณ์มหาวิทยาลัย โดยตั้งสมมติฐานของงานวิจัยไว้ว่าการเป็นตัวละครและการอยู่กับความต้องการของตัวละคร "มาช่า (Masha)" จะช่วยให้ร่างกายของผู้วิจัยในฐานะนักแสดงสามารถตอบสนองออกมาได้อย่างเป็นธรรมชาติ ทั้งนี้กระบวนการดำเนินงานวิจัยแบ่งออกเป็นทั้งหมด 4 กระบวนการคือ 1.) การทำงานวิเคราะห์บทละครและตัวละคร 2.) กระบวนการฝึกซ้อมการแสดง 3.) ช่วงระยะเวลาการทำงานก่อนวันแสดง (Pre - Production) และ 4.) ช่วงระยะเวลาการแสดงและหลังการแสดง (Production) นอกจากนี้ผู้วิจัยมีเครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยเพื่อประเมินผลการวิจัย 2 แบบดังนี้ คือ 1.) แบบบันทึกวิดิโอการซ้อมการแสดงและการสังเกต (Observation) ผู้วิจัยได้มีการจดบันทึกคำแนะนำจากผู้กำกับหลังการฝึกซ้อมทุกครั้ง พร้อมทั้งบันทึกภาพวิดิโอตอนช่วงฝึกซ้อมบางช่วงกับบันทึกวิดีโอรอบวันแสดงจริง และ 2.) การประเมินผลจากการแสดงจริงของช่วงระยะหลังการแสดง(Post Production) ซึ่งผู้วิจัยได้จัดทำแบบสอบถามจากผู้รับชมการแสดงและคำแนะนำจากผู้กำกับและครูที่ปรึกษาหลักด้านการแสดง ผลการวิจัยครั้งนี้พบว่า การเป็นตัวละครและการอยู่กับความต้องการของตัวละครนั้นต้องเริ่มจากการเข้าใจตัวละครโดยการที่นักแสดงต้องมีความรู้สึกนึกคิดแบบตัวละคร พร้อมทั้งการปล่อยวางตนเองให้อยู่กับปัจจุบันขณะ(Moment) จะสามารถช่วยให้ผู้วิจัยสามารถสื่อสารการแสดง ถ่ายทอดบทบาท และสามารถตอบสนองปรับเปลี่ยนวิธีการการแสดงที่มีมิติหลากหลายพร้อมทั้งแสดงตามสถานการณ์ในฉากได้อย่างเหมาะสม ซึ่งผู้วิจัยได้นำ แนวคิด ทฤษฎี เทคนิคการแสดงของผู้เชี่ยวชาญการแสดงชื่อดังทั้ง 3 ท่านคือ …

การสื่อสารด้วยความเห็นอกเห็นใจเป็นหนึ่งในทักษะความเป็นมืออาชีพของแพทย์ที่ควรเสริมสร้างตั้งแต่การเรียนในระดับมหาวิทยาลัย ความเห็นอกเห็นใจส่งผลต่อความสัมพันธ์ที่ดีของแพทย์และคนไข้ ช่วยให้แพทย์วินิจฉัยและเก็บข้อมูลจากคนไข้ได้ดีขึ้น ลดความวิตกกังวลและความเครียดของคนไข้ ศิลปะการละครเป็นศาสตร์ที่มีศักยภาพในการฝึกฝนความเห็นอกเห็นใจ ปัจจุบันมีการใช้ละครด้นสดมาบูรณาการกับการฝึกฝนทักษะการสื่อสารด้วยความเห็นอกเห็นใจในนักศึกษาแพทย์ แต่ยังขาดการศึกษาที่ใช้ทฤษฎีการแสดงมาประยุกต์ในเชิงปฏิบัติ และยังไม่มีการศึกษารูปแบบนี้ในประเทศไทย วิจัยนี้ศึกษาการออกแบบ ‘หลักสูตรการแสดงเพื่อความเห็นอกเห็นใจ’ สำหรับนักศึกษาแพทย์ไทย มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาความเหมาะสม ความพึงพอใจ และทัศนคติของนักศึกษาแพทย์ที่มีต่อหลักสูตร ตลอดจนศึกษาพัฒนาการด้านการสื่อสารและทัศนคติที่เปลี่ยนแปลงไปหลังเรียน การออกแบบหลักสูตรใช้หลักการแสดงของนักการละครชาวรัสเซีย คอนสแตนติน สตานิสลาฟสกี ประกอบด้วยทักษะ 3 ด้าน ได้แก่ ภาวะสร้างสรรค์ การเชื่อมโยง และจินตนาการ นำมาบูรณาการกับการฝึกฝนทักษะการสื่อสารด้วยความเห็นอกเห็นใจ ได้เป็นหลักสูตรการแสดงความยาว 3 วัน รวมทั้งสิ้น 18 ชั่วโมงที่มุ่งหวังให้นักศึกษาแพทย์เชื่อมโยงกับตนเอง ผู้อื่น และคนไข้อย่างมืออาชีพ หลักสูตรได้นำมาใช้กับนักศึกษาแพทย์กลุ่มนำร่อง 6 ราย เพื่อปรับปรุงหลักสูตรและกลุ่มตัวอย่าง 21 ราย เพื่อวัดผล ตัวอย่าง 19 ราย ได้สื่อสารกับผู้ป่วยจำลองก่อนและหลังเรียนเพื่อประเมินทักษะการสื่อสารที่เปลี่ยนแปลงไป ผลวิจัยพบว่ามากกว่า 95% ของกลุ่มตัวอย่างเห็นด้วยว่าหลักสูตรช่วยพัฒนาทักษะการสื่อสารด้วยความเห็นอกเห็นใจ ได้เข้าใจความเห็นอกเห็นใจมากขึ้น เป็นประโยชน์ต่อนักศึกษาแพทย์ อยากชักชวนเพื่อนให้มาเรียน สนใจเข้าร่วมอีกในอนาคต และเห็นด้วยว่าการละครช่วยให้ฝึกฝนทักษะการสื่อสารด้วยความเห็นอกเห็นใจได้ดีขึ้น การสื่อสารกับผู้ป่วยจำลองหลังจบหลักสูตรพบว่า ตัวอย่างมีคะแนนการประเมินทักษะการสื่อสารด้วยความเห็นอกเห็นใจสูงขึ้นในทุกด้าน ทักษะที่พัฒนาเด่นชัดคือด้านความเห็นอกเห็นใจและภาษากาย ตัวอย่างได้สะท้อนถึงคุณลักษณะเด่นของละครในการพัฒนาศักยภาพทั้งในระดับบุคคลไปถึงระดับระหว่างบุคคล การเรียนรู้มนุษย์และอารมณ์ต่าง ๆ ผ่านตัวละครคือจุดเด่นของหลักสูตรนี้ ละครเป็นกิจกรรมแบบบูรณาการที่เหมาะสมและสามารถพัฒนาทักษะการสื่อสารด้วยความเห็นอกเห็นใจของนักศึกษาแพทย์ได้ สามารถประยุกต์เป็นกิจกรรมเสริมในรายวิชาหรือประยุกต์ใช้กับบุคลากรทางการแพทย์ได้

Human beings share commonalities, many of which are intricately woven into literature. Literary works allow individuals to explore and gain insights into diverse cultures and ideas across spatiotemporal contexts. Against this backdrop, this study compared two literary works, Oedipus Rex (Sophocles, 1992) and Utenzi wa Nyakiiru Kibi [‘Epic of Nyakiiru-Kibi’] (Mulokozi, 1997), to gain insight into the two societies from which the stories are derived. Using Aarne and Thompson’s (1961) classification of the Oedipus story, the study finds that Utenzi wa Nyakiiru Kibi qualifies as an Oedipal story as it meets several Oedipal narrative motifs in the Oedipus story. Why is there an aspect of “veiled” theatre created to stay hidden? Even in technical theatre, some specialties receive more credit or recognition than others. During the last ten years of his life, Lee Breuer, who passed away in 2021, had been interested in framing Tennessee Williams’s canon, particularly the late plays, through the perspective of the grotesque and the Grand Guignol. Mabou Mines’s Glass Guignol: The Brother and Sister Play (2017), directed by Breuer and conceived by Breuer and Maude Mitchell, views Williams’s work alongside Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein (1818) in order to expose the grotesque truth of the messy and complex creative process. The paper examines the performance and embodiment of spirituality in Japanese Noh Drama during the Muromachi era from 1336 CE to 1573 CE. It also observes the art form from a modern perspective. This paper examines the portrayal of climate change across three versions of Anaïs Mitchell’s musical Hadestown by focusing on the lyrics of the show. It works to historicize the growing focus on climate change — as opposed to the changing of the seasons — between 2010 and 2019. The setting of the show shifts away from a post-apocalyptic Great Depression and towards a near-future as Americans began to feel more threatened by severe weather caused by climate change; it was no longer an entirely abstract problem. Due to the highly mediated conditions of its production, The History of Mary Prince presents a challenge to New Critical methods of reading that are frequently taught in undergraduate literature classrooms. Without questioning the British abolitionists’ textual representation of Prince’s experiences, readers unfamiliar with the historical conditions for slave narratives may attribute the publication’s sentimentalism and representations of violence as direct expressions of Prince. This essay discusses teaching The History of Mary Prince at a Hispanic Serving Institution via Ethnic Studies praxis. It develops Nicole Aljoe’s definition of Prince’s narrative as counter-story and testimonio and explores the undisciplining effects of reading Prince’s history as relevant to the lives of Borderlands students. To understand the multiple meanings of “undisciplining’ this essay draws on the theory of Sylvia Wynter and shows how Prince’s testimonio offers an alternative to Western epistemologies via communal resistance and resurgence. Several pedagogic tools are explored for teaching Prince in this way.
