Roboton, Jupa and Calicas have just been drafted by the city of La Limonada to petrol, to rob, to intimidate, to extort, to kill and when necessary to protect those citizens that need it; as their crime spree progresses their tactics and abilities improve shaping them into criminal machines. This article introduces glottopolitical studies (political approaches to language) and discusses the meaning of the political within this field. It analyzes consensus-based language policies as deployed by Spain´s language academy and instances in which antagonistic relations surrounding language manifest themselves.

This work presents a study of the characteristics of the Theatre of the Absurd in Latin America and in particular Ecuador, through the study of the work of the Ecuadorian author Cristian Cortez. We review the origins of the genre from the original works of its founders -such as Samuel Beckett and Eugene Ionesco in Europe- and base our analysis in the classification made by Martin Esslin in his book Theatre of the Absurd. Hace poco más de dos años me matriculé en tres cursos con el único fin de escapar del departamento de filosofía, sin ni tan siquiera imaginar que aquella decisión iba a cambiarme por completo.
