Trauma And The Representation Of The Unsayable In Late Twentieth-Century Fiction, Katina Rogers

This dissertation explores the ways in which several fiction writers from France, the U.S., and Latin America experiment with the form of their works in writing about traumatic experience, as they navigate the tension between a propulsion toward expression and toward silence. Some of these traumas are vast, as in Edmond Jabès’ Le livre des questions (1963-1973), which addresses not only the Holocaust, but also questions of exile and identity. "En la novela Yo-Yo Boing Giannina Braschi plantea un bilingüismo e identidad nomádica. Huye del concepto de permanencia y arraigo, definiéndose en sus personajes como un ser errante y proponiendo una yuxtaposición lingüística propia. Braschi utiliza un code-switching para subrayar la complejidad de vivir simultáneamente en más de una cultura y una lengua. El concepto teórico que da impulso a este artículo es la definición sobre la conciencia nómada que plantea Rosi Braidotti. Automitografías: The Border Paradigm And Chicana/O Autobiography, Juan Velasco

For Chicana/o cultural critics, the border paradigm has defined the boundaries of writing and experience in contemporary Chicana/o autobiography, and has constituted a valuable contribution to American Studies. In fact, the unique voices coming from Chicana/o autobiography are expressed through a network of cultural codes involving liminality and hybridity, the rewriting of borders, and the challenging of boundaries created by mainstream cultures and official truth. When Jose Martí began publication of La Edad de Oro in the summer of 1889, his purpose was to inform and to entertain the "children of America." Sobre Ia base del debate que asento Martin Luis Guzman a raiz del articulo "Tirano Banderas", publicado en "La Opinion" de Los Angeles el 17 de marzo de 1927, se dejan planteadas una serie de preguntas que cuestionan el uso del discurso fantastico en Ia representacion de Ia historia Iatinoamericana. La polemica sobre Ia ideologia de Ia forma tiene un especial relieve en tanto que viene a sumarse a Ia de Ia siempre compleja relacion cultural entre Europa y America. En este trabajo me propongo explorar cuales son los criterios determinantes de esta problematica geograficoideologica y sus consecuencias esteticas.
