The historical and scientific accuracy of the biblical witness has become increasingly difficult to maintain in light of the Darwinian revolution. A positive result has been a return to a proper theological reading of Scripture, not as our primary source of technical information but of insight into God’s means of dealing with us and God’s creation.

Guided By Your Secret Life, Homer Massey
Guided By Your Secret Life, Homer Massey
Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary (1973-2015)
The soul may be thought of as that part of the personality that processes an individual’s highest values. Humanly this may also be thought of as the conscience, an integral part of the soul. This short essay suggests that a Christian has a wonderful secret life within him that must be managed to help him through the day-to-day challenges of life.

A Baptist preacher is imprisoned and his case eventually dismissed. But rather than gaining his freedom he was put on a ship with orders to take him anywhere but America. He was literally "shanghaied" for the Lord.

This article examines Luther’s theology of the cross in relation to his treatment of vocation and explores the contemporary utility of both. It is argued that theologians who reduce Luther’s theology of the cross to an existential descriptor fail on two accounts. First, they do not comprehend the manner in which a theology of the cross does not describe anxiety but rather induces it so as to create theologians of the cross out of theologians of glory. Second, a reduction of a theology of the cross to an existential descriptor fails to apprehend the public significance of the same insofar …

Between Law And Justice: Kant, Derrida, And Religious Violence, Evgeni V. Pavlov
Between Law And Justice: Kant, Derrida, And Religious Violence, Evgeni V. Pavlov
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Although a number of approaches to the issue of religious violence are already available for academic consumption, this study attempts to approach the problem of the violent tension between religious principles and secular socio-political realities from a new perspective. We argue that religious violence is best conceptualized as a moment of crisis in the relationship between law and justice, considered as both intimately related (in Kant's analysis of the rightful condition) and peculiarly disjointed (in Derrida's reflections on the possibility of "justice beyond law"). We provide a preliminary account of the necessary conditions for a future theory of religious violence …
