In this paper I have attempted to present a summary of my exposition of the theology of Rauschenbusch and Niebuhr, and of my own understanding of the issues of Christian Social Action. I have tried to reproduce in this short space the thought of these men, in a manner which should make it comprehensible and which should relate it to the larger questions of social action. The intention of this study is to demonstrate the nature of miracles in New Mexico&mdashtheir social significances as related to the cultural background.
Questions of importance are: What is a miracle? Do miracles actually occur? How can the existence of such miraculous intervention be proved? None of these queries can be answered positively, except insofar as they exist in the minds and religions of those who believe in them. Objectively, the social activities of believers is evidenced in their beliefs. Miracles are part of the social customs and institutions. The importance of any movement may be determined, in part, by its claim. If these claims are true, they will demand careful attention of all concerned. The Mormon Church claims to represent "the restoration of the Gospel at Jesus Christ." The foundation tor this assertion is based on the Book of Mormon. This Book states that the Bible in its original form contained a true revelation from God.
