Blurring The Line Between Liturgy And Popular Religion: An Example From The Hispano-Mozarabic Rite, Raúl R. Gómez S.D.S.
Blurring The Line Between Liturgy And Popular Religion: An Example From The Hispano-Mozarabic Rite, Raúl R. Gómez S.D.S.
Journal of Hispanic / Latino Theology
The author considers the relationship between liturgy and popular religion in the wake of the Roman Catholic Church's renewal (1988) of the ancient Mozarabic rite, one of three ancient Latin liturgies, dating to the earliest centuries of the Church, that are practiced today. The author studies the Spanish Mozarabic rite, as practiced today at Santa Eulalia Church in Toledo, Spain. He concludes that "Mozarahs and their rite reflect the liturgy and spirituality of the earliest Hispanics," and thus "are an apt source for examining the roots of much contemporary Hispanic spirituality, especially as expressed in popular religion.

Evangelical Protestantism And The Development Of Country Music, Tara M. Tuttle
All-Inclusive List of Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Evangelical Protestantism prevailed in the rural Appalachian area at the beginning of the 201 h century and therefore influenced the development of the country music tradition. In this study, the influence of evangelical Protestantism is analyzed in terms of country music's lyrical content, performance settings, vocalization styles, artist's lifestyles and image, career selections and business decisions. The birth of country music and its historical connections to evangelical Protestant culture, including the Bristol Sessions, the spread of the radio, the Grand Ole Opry, gospel recordings, and the tensions and similarities between the church and the honk:y-tonk: are discussed in the first …

In this dispassionate but chillingly detailed survey of capital punishment, Banner, professor of law at Washington University in St. Louis, documents and explains the dramatic "changes in the arguments pro and con, in the crimes punished with death, in execution methods and rituals ... [and] in the way Americans have understood and experienced the death penalty."

A Protocol For Assessing And Developing Spiritual Formation Among Council For Christian Colleges And Universities Schools In North America, Keith R. Anderson
Doctor of Ministry
The purpose of this dissertation is to develop a protocol for assessing and developing spiritual formation among schools affiliated with the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities in North America.
Problem: A paradigm that is deeply rooted in scripture, practical theology, and an understanding of spiritual formation is needed to assess programs for spiritual formation of traditional college students.
1. What is the need within its context? Articulates why a need exists among schools of Council for Christian Colleges and Universities? I will describe the historical context and provide original research from forty-two CCCV schools.

Armenian Christology And The Council Of Chalcedon, Joseph Watson
Master of Sacred Theology Seminar Papers
The purpose of this study is to trace the historical and theological development of the Monophysitic Christology of the Armenian Church, especially as it is related to the Armenians' rejection of the Council of Chalcedon.

A Study Of Divine Spirituality, Simplicity, And Immutability In Petrus Van Mastricht's Doctrine Of God, Adriaan Cornelis Neele
A Study Of Divine Spirituality, Simplicity, And Immutability In Petrus Van Mastricht's Doctrine Of God, Adriaan Cornelis Neele
CTS Master of Theology (ThM) Theses
The problem stated is two fold: Post Reformation studies, and in particular those on the Nadere Reformatie have been deficient in appraising Petrus van Mastricht (1630- 1706) and his work, and the study of the divine attributes in context of the Dutch seventeenth century has been limited in general and restricted mainly to doctrinal reflections. Therefore, this thesis offers an introduction to the life and work of Petrus van Mastricht, and a descriptive analytical study of divine spirituality, simplicity, and immutability as found in the Theoreticopractica Theologia or Beschouwende en Praktikale Godgeleerdheit. The study of these attributes will be …
