Six Ways To Keep The "Little" In Your Girl: Guiding Your Daughter From Her Tweens To Her Teens, Dannah (Barker) Gresh
Alumni Book Gallery
Bestselling author, speaker, and founder of the Secret Keeper Girl conferences, Dannah Gresh shares with moms the secret to helping today's girls grow up confident, grace-filled, and strong in their faith. Studies show that the foundation for an emotionally healthy teen girl is built between the ages of 8-12 and that a good relationship with mom is one of the most important factors. So when the world wants girls to grow up too fast, how does a mother help her young daughter navigate the stormy waters of boy-craziness, modesty and body image, media, Internet safety, and more? With a warm, …

The primary purpose of this study is to examine how Christian homeschooling works in Taiwan by investigating the intentions, implementation, challenges and implications of homeschooling practice. With regard to homeschooling as an increasingly popular educational option in Taiwan, particularly among Christian families, the following research questions are used to guide this study: (1) What are the reasons and goals of Christian parents in Taiwan to choose homeschooling for their children? (2)What does their homeschooling look like in practice? (3) What do the Christian homeschoolers perceive to be the advantages and challenges of homeschooling in Taiwan? (4) What are the implications …
Revisiting The Empty Tomb: The Early History Of Easter, Daniel A. Smith
Revisiting The Empty Tomb: The Early History Of Easter, Daniel A. Smith
Faculty Publications
The Gospels disagree on what happened at the empty tomb, on who was there, and on what they saw or heard. The fact that our earliest written witness to the risen Christ, Paul, says nothing of the empty tomb has long provoked the question, what did early believers know about Easter, and when did they know it? Daniel A. Smith seeks to get behind the theological and apologetic concern to "prove" the resurrection and asks, where did the accounts of the early tomb come from, and what purpose did they originally serve? He shows that Paul is a valuable witness …

On Music Angels: God Only Knows, David M. Kirkham
On Music Angels: God Only Knows, David M. Kirkham
BYU Studies
The trek from my office at the Air Force Academy history department to the faculty parking lot was long enough--about a ten-minute walk--sufficient time for some substantive thinking. One winter evening in about 1992, as I made the walk, my Comparative Revolutions course weighed on my mind. As I pondered how I might introduce the next day's discussion on causes of revolutions, I climbed into my 1987 red Dodge Colt more out of habit than deliberation. At the turn of the ignition key, the radio's boom broke my reverie and jarred me back to the reality of my immediate surroundings. …

The Impact Of Evangelical Revivals On Global Mission: The Case Of North American Evangelicals In Brazil In The Nineteenth And Twentieth Centuries, Edward L. Smither
The Impact Of Evangelical Revivals On Global Mission: The Case Of North American Evangelicals In Brazil In The Nineteenth And Twentieth Centuries, Edward L. Smither
Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary (1973-2015)
The aim of the current article is to show that an important element behind the establishment of evangelical missions to Brazil – particularly during the pioneering stages – was evangelical revival, especially that which occurred in North America during the nineteenth century. Following a brief introduction to the general relationship between eighteenth- and nineteenth century revivals and evangelical missions, I shall endeavour to support historically the commonly accepted, yet often unsubstantiated, correlation between such movements of revival and mission. Firstly, I will show the significant paradigm shift in missional thinking, which took place in the nineteenth century, as North American …

Let There Be No Division Among You: Historical Realities And Biblical Principles Towards Racial Reconciliation In The North American Classical Pentecostal Movement, Anthony R. Roberts
Let There Be No Division Among You: Historical Realities And Biblical Principles Towards Racial Reconciliation In The North American Classical Pentecostal Movement, Anthony R. Roberts
Master of Arts in Ministerial Leadership (MAML)
In its early history, the North American Classical Pentecostal Movement demonstrated racial harmony among its constituency, especially during the Azusa Street Revival. However, within a couple years of the birth of Classical Pentecostalism, several events led to the racial segregation of the movement; segregation that has persisted into the present era. Racial reconciliation within the North American Classical Pentecostal Movement will likely occur through understanding the role that past racial injustices have played in the Spirit-filled tradition, and recognizing that baptism of the Holy Spirit is a unifying experience that unifies people from different racial and ethnic backgrounds. The following …

What can be said about the complex relationship between psychoanalysis and religion? I've found it useful to address this question from three perspec, tives: life, theory, and culture. These are inevitably intertwined, but can be separated, at least heuristically.

Wayne State University Dissertations
African Americans comprise 12% of the American population and 45% of the homeless sheltered population (United States Department of Housing and Urban Development [HUD], 2007). The fastest growing segment is African American women and African American women with children. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between spiritual resources, self-efficacy, life attitudes, cognition, and personal characteristics (e.g., physical and mental health, age, marital status, number of children, number and length of times homeless and perceptions of being at risk for serious illness) of homeless African American women from 30 years of age and older who were trying …
