Holistic Approach To Mental Illnesses At The Toby Of Ambohibao Madagascar, Daniel A. Rakotojoelinandrasana
Doctor of Ministry Theses
The Church is to reclaim its teaching and praxis of the healing ministry at the example of Jesus Christ who preached, taught and healed. Healing is holistic, that is, caring for the whole person, physical, mental, social and spiritual. Healing is a part of the full salvation in Jesus Christ.
Mental illnesses or disorders affect one fourth of human beings in the world and their prevalence is far from declining. This thesis describes the model of Ambohibao and suggests it as a way for the church to do healing ministry, and particularly, as a way to approach the problems of …

Re-Thinking Cosmology Ethically And Theologically In The Light Of Emmanuel Lévinas' Phenomenology Of Evil, Glenn J. Morrison
Re-Thinking Cosmology Ethically And Theologically In The Light Of Emmanuel Lévinas' Phenomenology Of Evil, Glenn J. Morrison
Theology Conference Papers
This article uses the ethical metaphysics of the French-Jewish Philosopher and Talmudic Scholar, Emmanuel Lévinas, to advance a Judeo-Christian theological approach to Cosmology. Although Lévinas has been long noted by Christian theologians, his writings have not yet been considered by Science and, in particular, cosmology. It is argued that Lévinas' phenomenology of Evil provides an important foundation for creating an ethical Judeo-Christian approach to cosmology. Constituting three moments, namely, (i) Evil as Excess, (ii) Evil as an intention and (iii) Evil as hatred of Evil, his phenomenology of evil unveils two important cosmological findings: (i) the nature of the universe …

Interreligious Dialogue In Global Perspective, Lawrence E. Frizzell D.Phil.
Selected Works of Lawrence E. Frizzell
The tensions between religions and political systems have been evident in intellectual and cultural contexts throughout human experience. In past ages, there has been a propensity for each culture or religion to assume that it embodied the best in every aspect of the human order. There is no longer any excuse for such narrowness spawned of ignorance to dominate the thinking of educated people. Yet mere tolerance of other approaches to the common challenges of humanity will not provide security for all, especially for minorities within a culture or for weaker societies in a given region striving to maintain their …
“The Chinese Believe In Spirits”: Belief And Believing In The Study Of Religion, Catherine M. Bell
“The Chinese Believe In Spirits”: Belief And Believing In The Study Of Religion, Catherine M. Bell
Religious Studies
A recent round of books, both popular and scholarly, reveal that as a society we are, once again, fascinated with the issue of belief. While the more popular books tend to adopt a fairly straightforward and uncomplicated notion of believing and then find major problems of rationality, the more scholarly books readily accept a type of rationality to beliefs while problematizing the act of believing in other, more involuted ways. Both types of argument remind the scholar of religion that the academic discipline of religious studies has not contributed much to this discussion for quite a while. As described in …
