In August 1966, a trial excavation was conducted in Akhziv, north of the Akhziv bridge (map ref 2100/7730). The excavation was conducted following the discovery of a group of cist graves during expansion work on the western margins of Nahariya–Achziv–Rosh Hanikra road. The excavation, on behalf of the Department of Antiquities and Museums, was directed by Y. Ben Yosef. The graves were devoid of any datable finds. In 1966, a salvage excavation was conducted in Ramla (map ref. unknown), following the discovery of gold coins during the digging of foundations for a building. The excavation, on behalf of the Department of Antiquities and Museums, was directed by A. Druks. Architectural remains were found, as well as many coins, pottery and a fragment of a doll made of bone. The finds were dated to the Early Islamic period.

In May–November 1966, the second excavation season was conducted at Belvoir Castle (map ref. 249204/722408), under the direction of M. Ben-Dov and Y. Mintzker. The buildings of the Arab village of Kawkab al-Hawa, which stood on the ruins of the fortress, were dismantled. The collapse layers were removed, and the upper floor of the Crusader fortress was exposed in trial probes dug at a number of points.

In July–August 1965, a trial excavation was conducted at HaSanhedrin street in the Jesse Cohen neighborhood of Holon (map ref. 177/656), following the exposure of signs of a settlement during the removal of sand from the ridge. The excavation, on behalf of the Department of Antiquities and Museums, was directed by Y. Shapira and financed by the Municipality of Holon. The remains of a settlement were discovered. A mudbrick superstructure was exposed, with two discernable construction phases.

In late June 1965, an excavation was conducted on Hill Square (Giv'at Bet Hamitbahayim) in Tel Aviv (next to the city slaughterhouse, map ref. unknown), under the direction of J. Kaplan. Granaries were discovered, hewn in the kurkar rock, that were filled with ash and pottery fragments. The bottom stratum of several of the granaries was dated to the Bronze Age, and the stratum above it was dated to the Iron Age.

In October 1965, a salvage excavation was conducted in Tirat Zvi (map ref. unknown), following the discovery of a burial cave during the laying of a water line in a vegetable shed. In December 1965, an excavation was conducted in Kibbutz Lohamei HaGeta'ot (map ref. 2091/7625), following leveling of the ground in the parking lot of the Ghetto Fighters House museum. In January–February 1965, salvage excavations were conducted at Khirbat Sharta and Khirbat Sharatti, near Kefar Ata (presently Qiryat Ata; map ref. 212/746), following the discovery of a burial cave during ground leveling. The excavations, on behalf of the Department of Antiquities and Museums, were directed by A. Ovadya. Khirbat Sharta and Khirbat Sharatti are located on two hills facing each other. In 1967, another excavation was conducted at Khirbat Sharta following the discovery of an additional burial cave that was dated to the Byzantine period.

Four occupational phases were exposed, comprising floors and limited architectural remains, including stone-built channels, a basin, a kiln, and segments of walls. According to the excavator, the assemblages from all four phases were homogeneous and dated to the eighth century CE.

In 1964, an excavation was conducted in Qiryat Tiv‘on (map ref. 2105/7353), following the discovery of a building during the laying of foundations for the Institute of Music at Oranim College. The excavation, on behalf of the Department of Antiquities and Museums, was directed by R. Givon. The building was identified as a granary. The building had a pear-like shape. No diagnostic finds were recovered.
