Kossi Efoui’s sixth novel, Une magie ordinaire, constitutes his intellectual autobiography in that it follows the reconstruction of an “intellectual development” (Paul Ricoeur, 1995) by retracing his own trajectory as a writer in exile, born and raised in a dictatorship, forced to live the last days of his mother’s life away from her. This study explores the role played by private life, history, and literature in the reconstruction of the writer’s trajectory that unfolds in this novel. The question of the readership is a recurring one in francophone literature. However, the aim here is not to attempt a sociological study of actual readers of the works of Moussa Konaté but rather to retrace, from a few of his novels, the profile of the reader constructed by the text. The analysis focuses particularly on the knowledge of detective fiction and of the cultures and history of Africa attributed to the fictitious reader, and on sketching his axiological portrait. The contemporary African novel offers an acute staging of writing, the image of the writer and a reflection on the issues of literature. Its metafictional and metatextual dimensions give rise to a poetics in which writing appears both as a practice and as a theory of fiction. This study, which focuses on novels of Sembène Ousmane, Alain Mabanckou, and Blaise N'Djehoya, addresses the issue of double fiction. Ferdinand Oyono was a Cameroonian statesman and a Francophone novelist of the first generation of African writers who became active after World War II. He entered the literary scene at a time when writers such as his fellow Cameroonian Mongo Beti and the Senegalese Sembene Ousmane and Leopold Sedar Senghor were at their peak. Oyono and Mongo Beti are known as "the forefathers of modern African Identity" for their anticolonial novels.

The term "Francophone African literature" is widely used to designate sub-Saharan African literature written in French by authors living in Africa or abroad. It derives from Francophonie, the nineteenth-century neologism coined by the French geographer Onesine Redus (1837-1916). In the African context, the concept gained relevance in the 1960s under the aegis of Leopold Senghor and Habib Bourguiba, two African presidents who advocated the creation of an organization linking all the nations sharing the French language and culture.

La Poésie, Chanson Des Temps Futurs Ou La Force De L'Avenlr Chez Dadié, Françoise Ugochukwu

This study of Dadié's poetry, focusing on Hommes de tous les continents, uncovers the traditional and biblical roots of this cross-cultural writing. The study of imagery, symbols and rhythm highlights the writer's exploration of time and space, his perception of the poet's role as a soldier and inspired guide, and reveals his poetry as a militant powerfully word pointing towards a future yet unborn.

Gender issues in African literature and cinema have always raised challenging questions. It seems that the real or supposed oppression of women is often Justified in biological rather than in social terms, which, in turn obfuscates the real issues. This essay addresses the problem of film reecritures, from a comparative perspective. In so doing we pay special attention to the status of the feminine. Our aim is to reconsider current trends and ideological changes in the transfer from literary to filmic text.

To what extent can we say that both Lacrosil and Bugul rewrite Fanon? Through the study of Cajou and Ken, respectively the Guadeloupean and the Senegalese female protagonists, this article proposes a way to derive a specifically female perspective on colonial violence. The essay focuses on the two novels, Cajou and Le baobab fou, and examines the effect of colonial epistemological violence and its specific impact on the black female’s subjectivity. The protagonists Ken and Cajou revisit their initial trauma in a quest for knowledge of their historical heritage and engage in a dialogue with Frantz Fanon, representative of black …
