Le Rassemblement National, avant connu comme le Front National, est devenu un des partis politiques les plus importants dans la politique française, avec son leader, Marine Le Pen, comme une figure influente. Les tactiques politiques de l’extrême droite perpétuées par le Front National, sont notamment les peurs créées sur la laïcité, la migration et ‘l’islamisation’ de la société française, ont commencé à être des politiques communes utilisées par plusieurs côtés de l’échiquier politique. En voyant l’évolution historique et contemporaine des politiques françaises et la popularité du Front National, on peut trouver la raison pour laquelle des sujets comme la ‘francité’ …

Gambling: The Dialogue Of Excess In Lanval And The Franklin’S Tale, Fanrui Shao

Marie de France’s Lanval and Chaucer’s The Franklin’s Tale are two medieval stories based on the Breton form of poetry called the lai. Both texts focus on rash actions, in particular thoughtless utterance, committed by virtuous foreigners, and the consequences that ensue. On the surface, the outsiders suffer xenophobia and the disfavor of the local patriarchy. But their true problem is the “excess” that they carry with them. Communities censor the circulation of this excess, i.e., all people, objects and relationships that either come from outside or deviate from local norms. Cet article explore la notion d’appartenance dans Mariannes Noires (2016) et Bande de Filles (2014), des films sur les femmes noires et leurs expériences vécues en France. En étudiant les façons dont les institutions françaises construisent une identité française, et donc un sentiment d’appartenance dans l’Hexagone, je démontrerai qu’il existe un désaccord entre l’identité française normative et la femme noire en France. Snapshots Of A Fictional Past: Photographic Nostalgia In The Early 20th Century Art Novel., Harry A. Jones Iv

In this dissertation I argue that the proliferation of a mass codependent relationship with nostalgia in the twentieth century shares a parallel history with the widespread adoption of the reproducible image being used by collective audiences as a supplement for natural memory, or what Proust names “voluntary memory.” This conflict between nostalgia-hungry consumers and artists inspired groups such as Alfred Stieglitz’s Photo-Secessionists and artistically minded authors like Henry James, who employed increasingly complex photographic and literary practices to resist the images’ tendency to debase the aesthetic quality of their own work. Cette thèse vise à examiner les techniques courantes de la traduction littéraire et leur application pratique dans les contextes du thème et de la version. Le chapitre méthodologique explique d’abord les concepts qui sous-tendent les cinq techniques principales que j’ai utilisées pendant mon travail : les unités de traduction, la modulation, la transposition, l’équivalence, et l’adaptation. Chaque partie de ce chapitre comprend des exemples concrets tirés de mes traductions afin de démontrer comment et pourquoi un traducteur choisirait de profiter de ces procédés dans certains contextes. Ecstasy, Confession, Image, And Silence In Buber, Bergman, And Godard, Karl E. Toepfer

This essay discusses the contrasting attitudes toward ecstatic experience as described in Martin Buber's book Ekstatische Konfessionen (1909). Ingmar Bergman's film Persona (1966), and Jean-Luc Godard's film Weekend (1967). The attitude toward ecstasy depends heavily on the use of language and confidence in language to represent ecstatic experience. Buber, Bergman. and Godard share little, if any, perception on the relation between language, speech, and ecstasy.
