Itinéraires Spatio-Temporels: Exil, Nomadisme, Diaspora Chez Nancy Hudson, Régine Robin Et Émile Ollivier, Joëlle Vitello

In this essay, I explore various dimensions of theoretical terms such as exile, nomadism, diaspora, and border. These terms have a temporal and spatial dimension. They are not equivalent to each other and they generate different kinds of identity narratives. In fact, in their strict definitions, as John Durham Peters demonstrates, they oppose each other. Yet, in contemporary texts, fiction and non- fiction, regardless of the individual experiences portrayed, they are also often intertwined. Since the publication of Vivre me tue in 1997, Paul Smaïl's published statements about the necessity for a "Beur" writer to protect his dignity and his freedom behind a pseudonym have generated a significant layer of metafiction which this essay proposes to examine. An analysis of Smaïl's different types of narrative accounts will help us elucidate the cultural and literary effects produced by the writer's strategy.

While it had somewhat disappeared as a central preoccupation in recent African fiction, the issue of "race" comes up in a striking way in Daniel Biyaoula's first novel, L 'impasse. Published in 1996, L'impasse sets out to expose through the eye of a rather cynical first-person narrator the neurotic nature of postcolonial subjects' relation to his/her racialized origin. Focusing on the body as a site of authenticity or alienation, the novel can be read as a contemporary and creative version of the "Black experience" as Franz Fanon theorized it almost half a century before in Black Skin White Masks. Psychological detachment is often presented as an exile from which there is no return. The works of Malika Mokeddem illustrate the lack of social support for psychic space of the individual who passes through anxiety and ends in psychological detachment. This article proposes to show, in L 'interdite and N'zid, how Mokeddem affirms nevertheless hope for recovery from this state. It also demonstrates the link between hope and mobility of the body, as well as of words, which must cross the spaces of anxiety in order to find community and the "inestimable freedom" (L'interdite, p. 132) that support and permit …

In the fiction of Farjallah Hark, fire and heat constitute distinguished means of expression in various fields. In his conception of fire, there is an intermingling between what is natural and what is social; good and evil are both employed, and a group of complexes are formed, such as the Promethee complex, the Empedocle complex, or the Novalis complex. L'étrange Destin de Wangrin is the narration of Wangrin's life from birth to death. The latter being the character round which everything moves, his study enable to acquire a good knowledge of the book. His personality presents aptitudes intellectual as well as moral. "Collaborative Support For The School Of Education: A Joint Instructional Technology And Library Needs Assessment Program.", Terry Taylor, H Bryan, Mickey Ann Hinojosa

DePaul's School of Education was the first implementation of a Needs Assessment designed jointly by the university's Instructional Technology Development (ITD) area and the University Libraries. The goals for the Needs Assessment were to identify areas in which an expanded, unified and comprehensive faculty development training and support package would both address faculty's perceived needs while also improving adoption of existing instructional technologies and/or services. The Library's education bibliographer and the ITD consultant for education interviewed faculty representing a cross section of departments and programs as well as technological expertise. This study of Abdelkebir Khatibi’s autobiography, La Mémoire tatouée, addresses two specific questions with respect to autobiography: What does this autobiography tell us about autobiography in general and about its own status as autobiography? What is the relationship between Khatibi’s autobiography and his other more well-known texts? Chapter One focuses on questions of autobiography and how this text challenges generic classification and definition. The analysis in this chapter focuses on a consideration of form and innovation, the multiplicity of the autobiographical subject, and questions of completeness, accuracy and memory in the creation of autobiography. En attendant le vote des betes sauvages peut être lu com me une analyse discursive de la problématique de l'identité de la classe dirigeante. Qui sont réellement les dirigeants africains dont la mauvaise gouvernance a poussé le continent au bord de la banqueroute? Tout remonterait à l'enfance qui, dans le cas de cette élite, a été paralysante. L'analyse met en lumière une enfance bâclée gelée dans une idéologie de servitude.

Evidence suggests that the feminist consensus on Jean-Jacques Rousseau “misogyny” is breaking down.New studies are emerging that bring to light the many sympathetic portrayals of women in Rousseau’s works and the important role he ascribed to women within the family. Some modern feminists are even finding ways of reading Rousseau that speak to women’s concerns today. Overturning the notion that Rousseau was an arch-misogynist will be an uphill battle, however, given how very widespread it has become. Moreover, before we can arrive at a coherent and convincing appraisal of Rousseau’s views on women, a curious paradox needs to be addressed: …

La Poetique Du Paysage Dans L'Oeuvre D'Edouard Glissant, De Kateb Yacine Et De William Faulkner, Nabil Boudraa

This dissertation examines the different ways in which Edouard Glissant, Kateb Yacine and William Faulkner combine landscape, history and identity in their work. The depiction of landscape in literature is not new, but the French Romantics in the 19th century, for instance, tended to describe the beauty of landscape without conceiving any rapport between landscape and humankind, and thus created a gap between the two. For Kateb and Glissant, landscape is also a witness of History. The (hi)story of their respective communities has been confiscated and shattered by the respective colonizers, hence the necessity to recreate it through the poetics …
