There has been an association between the Faust drama and music which has endured for centuries. It is a tradition which is also influential during the present in rock music. The main characteristic of rock music and heavy metal is to reflect life in a realistic and an unapologetic manner in its lyrical content. Therefore, the combining of the drama with rock music is a natural and logical progression. The literary work can develop an internal identity as a particular mark. Several African writers incorporate into their novels indications of culture that derive from verbal arts. This method gives to the writing a particular aesthetic in between two cultures, creating in the writing an individuality of certain writers such as Ahmadou Kourouma. For him the question is not only to distort the French language to express his Malinke identity, but also to develop a method of incipit that belongs to verbal art.

En attendant le vote des betes sauvages can be read as a discursive analysis of the problematic of the ruling class identity. In reality, who are the African rulers whose poor governance has pushed the continent to the brink of bankruptcy? Everything can be traced back to that childhood which, in the case of this elite, has resulted in paralysis. Analysis uncovers failed childhood immobilized in an ideology of servitude.

Critics have often tended to show how Ahmadou Kourouma has expressed the disillusionment of the African "suns of the independences," ''tropicalized" the French language by bending its syntax to fit that of Malinke, and produced novels for "occidental importation" on the basis of oral texts. It becomes clear that Ahmadou Kourouma's literary work is marked by the predominance of authentically African techniques of expression (semantax). With this in mind, the present study tries to analyse its linguistic manifestations as techniques of aesthetic creativity and of the enrichment of the French language through the writing of novels. This is why we have serialized and described the expressive neologies in the corpus of our study while pointing out their stylistic effects: the Negro-African imagery. Ahmadou Koruouma's fiction transcends the traditional limits of the novelistic genre. This explains, in part, the irritation of both the French and the African establishments following the appearance of his first novel, Les soleils des independances, in which both writing and language enhance the subversive effect. The banning and subsequent disappearance of Kourouma's play, Tougnatigui ou le Diseur de verite and the dramatic adaptations of his first two novels call for an appreciation of his entire work from a dramaturgical perspective. Ahmadou Kourouma's novel Allah n'est pas oblige belongs to the rich literary vein of texts, both autobiographical and fictitious, that are written in French, for adults, portraying children. This novel stands out however through the young narrator's humor as well as through the tragic nature of its topic: child-soldiers. This article analyzes the humor, presenting it as the only possible and thus the "obliged" mode of narrating and reading the atrocities of recent tribal wars in Liberia and Sierra Leone.

La Littérature D'Enfance Et De Jeunesse D'Ahmadou Kourouma, Guy Tegomo

For some years, a certain number of Black African publishers and writers have tried to reverse a tendency to forget young readers. Among the African writers, Ahmadou Kourouma holds a special place. His works for young readers actually reveal an unusual formal approach in which, for example, he combines two genres as different as the documentary album for children with a novel for adolescents. These are works reflecting an ancestral Africa for which the author strives to preserve the memory by placing at the disposition of young Africans the elements for reappropriating their culture and society.

The prix de la Francite, awarded by the journal Etudes franqaises, brought to Ahmadou Kourouma the publication of his first novel, Les soleils des independances, and exceptional renown for the author of a single novel. He received two other prizes when Les soleils ... was republished in Paris in 1970. After a "silence" of some twenty years, during which he was working as an actuary and an insurance expert in various countries, Kourouma surprised the literary world by publishing, in 1990, a second novel, Manne, outrages et defis. The Limits Of Writing In Marie Cardinal's Amour... Amours..., Claire Marrone

Amour... amours... enters into a body of literature in French, particularly in the postcolonial period, that deals with the bilingual and bicultural aspects of selfhood. In focusing on the France-Algeria connection, the text illustrates the challenges of negotiating between conflicting allegiances. Salient issues in self-definition emerge, including the significance of one's birthplace and the loss of one's homeland. What is interesting in Amour... amours... is the way in which Cardinal conjures up remembrances of Algeria, including stylistic experimentation, intertextual echoes, and the thematization of love evoked in the title. A year before his untimely death in 1980, in the days before the internet, before even the minitel bleu or rose, Roland Barthes compared the personals – at that time still print-based – of two popular French dailies. On the one hand, the advertisements in Le Nouvel Observateur belied artifice, he noted. The information their writers shared publicly with potential mates revealed a certain banal artificiality. The materials included in this project have been developed as a result of my emerging understanding of French grammar since I began studying it in 1976. I began teaching a French Activities class in 1986 to eighth graders at St. Andrews and third and fourth graders at an elementary school in Baltimore as a student at Morgan State University. While I was completing my student teaching at Baltimore City College Preparatory School, I found that my students had difficulties understanding textbook explanations. Three women narrate their lives in French, the colonist's language, instead of in Arabic, their mother tongue. They pay homage to their families in order to rid themselves of guilty and revengeful feelings. In Les saisons de passage and Le bonheur a la queue glissante, Andree Chedid and Abla Farhoud express their love for an absent mother, who represents both the rebellious and submissive arabic woman.
