The basic problem chosen for this study is "Possible Solutions to Certain Problems Arising in the Production of School-Produced Motion Pictures." Specific problems arise in any medium of expression, and it is wise to expect problems to arise when locally produced audio-visual aids in the form of motion pictures are considered by a school. This creative practice-led research project investigates sound design with the aim of exploring whether cultural influences play a crucial role in shaping sound design choices in American and Japanese supernatural horror films.
