The unofficial food of the Chinese New Year is niángāo. Food is an important part of the Chinese New Year as it shows not only the cultures but also the values that certain groups within uphold. Niángāo is significant in its own ways as it’s considered a “lucky food”. It is considered a delicacy and symbolizes prosperity for the upcoming years.

When people think of drifting, they usually think about the movie, Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift. This movie ended up spurring a lot of misconceptions on what drifting actually is. Drifting is considered more of an organized legal sport than an illegal underground activity as projected in the movie. A great example of this could be scoped in throughout Georgia, particularly more north of Atlanta.

Waffle House, as a kid growing up in Gwinnett, brought a different kind of emotion to me, not one of excitement exactly but one of fondness. They were practically everywhere and yet they would always be veiled by the infrastructure around them. What looks to be an ordinary chocolate cake sits unassumingly on a plate, but as the spoon pushes in for the first bite, it cracks through the outer crust of the cake and unexpectedly sinks into the center. Something special is about to come. As the spoon pulls out, the cake appears to be almost melting off the edge, and the prospect of waiting to eat it seems near impossible. This is the experience of my family’s best special occasion dessert, the truffle cake.
