Paul Celan And The Processes Of Survival In Post-Shoah Jewish Writing, Ari Savage

The following is a study of the poetry of Paul Celan as a representation of psychological and social processes present in the written works of Shoah survivors. It begins with an analysis of the place of writing in Jewish culture, then identifies three primary processes which operate in sequence: alienation, individuation, and integration. By examining Paul Celan’s highly personal and autobiographical texts in the context of his life experience as a Shoah survivor it is possible to discern the social and psychological forces at work which compel survivors to express their traumas in written form, and to gain a better …

Gwenyth Elise Hood was born on December 10, 1955, to Thomas Arthur Hood and Marion Louise Snee Hood in White Plains, NY, but moved with her family to Brandon, Vermont at the age of seven. She developed a love of reading and writing at an early age, discovering some favorite authors—Rudyard Kipling, Shakespeare, and J.R.R. Tolkien—at roughly the same time, in early adolescence. Forest Thought, Narrativity, And Counterinsurgency In Yñiga, Glenn L. Diaz
Akda: The Asian Journal of Literature, Culture, Performance
In this paper, I investigate the ways in which the tropical forest can assume the position of discourse, formal design, and textual form in fiction. I think about how, beyond its usual role as space, its vitality and various logics can facilitate a different way of storytelling, one that seeks to embody the historical resistance that the forest has long incubated. I demonstrate this by looking at the forest as a critical element in the spatio-poetics of my novel Yñiga (2022), and how its literal and conceptual manifestations--or "forest thought"--can help illuminate the ways in which history is imagined in …

Twisted Threads: A Novel and Exploration of Fraternity Culture and Race is a project that seeks to explore questions about race and brotherhood through the lens of the urban fantasy genre. It is the first ten chapters of a full-length fantasy novel and can be considered the first half of the planned novel. The Introduction details some of my influences, both literary and cultural, as well as the thought process behind much of the worldbuilding in my manuscript. A Loon On Highland Lake, An Eco-Fantasy, Erin E. Bennett

A Loon on Highland Lake is a fantasy play, adapted from Tchaikovsky’s ballet, Swan Lake, itself an adaption of a Russian “swan maiden” folktale. In this retelling, the spirit of an invasive tree species, Alder Buckthorn, endangers the inhabitants of the small lake town of East Andover, New Hampshire. On the night of the 4th of July, Buckthorn places a curse on an unfortunate news reporter, transforming him into a loon, the solitary black bird known in the northeast for its distinct, haunting call. Figgy, a shy ecologist living in East Andover, stumbles upon the knowledge that her …
