清初詩人王士禛（1634-1711），執騷壇牛耳數十年，以神韻大倡天下，其內涵與來源引致清代詩論家的翕然討論。本文擬在學界研究的基礎上，就王士禛詩學神韻以外的部分進行考察，提出前代山左詩學傳統為其早期詩學重要來源這一新視角，並從接受、建構兩方面梳理王士禛與明代山左詩學傳統之關聯。第一章先介紹山左詩學傳統；第二章以王士禛評選山左掖縣詩歌《濤音集》、及其手批叔祖王象春（1578-1632）《問山亭詩集選》為主，分析王士禛早期如何受到山左詩學傳統的影響，兼談王士禛在接受過程中對山左格調詩學的反思；第三章則分析王士禛對明代山左詩學的建構，他以自己的詩歌審美理想重新敘述明代山左詩學，一是建構“明有古澹一派”，二是他對兩位明代山左詩壇標桿人物李攀龍（1514-1570）、邊貢（1476-1532）的討論；從這兩部分進一步窺見他建構山左詩學的方法與目的；最後從王士禛對《明詩綜》選錄山左詩人的話語干涉入手，一窺他如何提高明代山左詩人的詩史地位。

Based on our farming experiences in rural Maine, this memoir relates a personal narrative of gardening and animal husbandry. The idea and passion for this gentleman’s farm project was solely my husband Mark’s, but due to his expanding work schedule, the execution of it fell largely on my shoulders. The narrative follows our exploits on the farm, beginning with that first experimental year. Nearly forty years later, Mark decided to try again. However, like our original farming venture, the gentleman’s farm that was supposed to be completely Mark’s project has become another shared adventure. The memoir comes full circle, showing …

This thesis presents my research on the psychological realism genre, the stream of consciousness narrative technique, the usage of second person and the present tense, the biblical reasoning behind depicting the ordinary as extraordinary, the role of the demonic in domestic violence, the incorporation of screenplay styles, the scientific reasoning and personal findings of my project’s formatting, the examination of primary sources (novels) that have inspired my project, and finally, the research on ADHD, PTSD, and C-PTSD as the results of domestic abuse. This project focuses on the negative affect of shame in Nella Larsen’s 1920s American novel, Passing. While shame is a universal feeling everyone feels, the project argues that Larsen’s two main characters, Irene Redfield and Clare Kendry, feel a specific type of invisible shame that pulls on them differently. For Irene, this shame is reactive and aggressive, but for Clare, this shame is passive and often ignored. The project details where and how the shame manifests for each character, particularly focusing on how shame can be seen visibly and invisibly in and on the body. MY LAST CONCUSSION is a thesis consisting of a critical introduction, a number of poetic influences, and a collection of poems. The introduction touches on the themes of the collection, my personal history with my subject, my changing approach to poetry, and a brief evaluation of the work as a whole. It details my approach to Catholicism, paganism, transgender identity, and oppression. My work grapples with both my current understanding of myself and my inability to enunciate my reality in the past. I aim to view divinity and personal history through a lens of queerness.

This dissertation focuses on the long history of hysteria and the ways in which it has been used to denigrate and silence disabled women. Women diagnosed as hysterical, by either the medical establishment or the court of public opinion, are denied the right to generate knowledge about and for themselves – they are epistemologically disabled. The author argues that hysterical women have unique ways of looking at and understanding the world which push back against their epistemological disablement. The emergence of generative AI technologies has led to an increasing number of people collaborating with AI to produce creative works. Across two experimental studies, in which we carefully designed and programmed state-of-the-art human–AI interfaces, we examine how the design of generative AI systems influences human creativity (poetry writing). First, we find that people were most creative when writing a poem on their own, compared to first receiving a poem generated by an AI system and using sophisticated tools to edit it (Study 1). Following this, we demonstrate that this creativity deficit dissipates when people co-create with—not edit—AI and establish …

This poem was recited at a marriage recently in Vermont. I met the groom in my freshman year. He was the first college friend I ever made, and he used to burst into the room like Cosmo Kramer and settle down in an easy-chair to think about math (my side of the dorm was quieter than his). I thought that was remarkable and delightful, and so, when the task came to write a matrimonial poem for him, I selected a mathematical conceit. The poem concludes with a mathematical paraphrasing of Philip Larkin's last line from Arundel Tomb.

Riungan is an eating-together event involving the kampung community as a form of religious worship and gratefulness/gratitude to God. Through an ethnography approach, with in-depth interviews and a literature review as a method, this research explores the relationship between the practice of eating together and cultural identity in riungan as held by the Muslim Betawi of Kampung Pondok Pucung. This research investigates the translation of archaisms, particularly here-words and there-words, from English to Indonesian, highlighting the unique challenges they present. Using a descriptive qualitative method, the study is framed by the Skopos theory and ISO 24495-1:2023 - Plain Language principles. The Skopos theory stresses the translation's intended purpose, advocating a functional approach that enhances the target text's communicative efficacy. ISO 24495-1:2023 ensures legal documents are clear, concise, and accessible, maintaining their legal integrity. The research examines a bilingual English-Indonesian contractual document, the Global Master Repurchase Agreement, to analyze the translation of these archaic terms.
