Editorial Literacy:Reconsidering Literary Editing As Critical Engagement In Writing Support, Anna Cairney

Editing is usually perceived in the pejorative within in the literature of composition studies generally, and specifically in writing center studies. Regardless if the Writing Center serves mostly undergraduates or graduates, the word “edit” has largely evolved to a narrow definition of copyediting or textual cleanup done by the author at the end of the writing process. Inversely, in trade publishing, editors and agents work with writers at multiple stages of production, providing editorial feedback in the form of reader’s reports and letters. Spontaneous Minds And Electric Romanticism: Kerouac, Ginsberg, Dylan, Joplin, Sasha Tamar Strelitz

This dissertation postulates a sub-category of Romanticism: electric Romanticism. As opposed to its “acoustic” forebear, electric Romanticism exists in an electric age, beginning after Henry David Thoreau’s rumination on the telegraph wire as an electric rendering of the æolian harp image. Romantic poets used the æolian harp to analogize the act of writing activities set into motion by spontaneous thoughts, a central attribute of the Romantic literary movement. The modernized electric version of the æolian harp—the telegraph wire—signals that electric Romanticism branches off from its source and evolves along with technology to engage more synchronously with the spontaneous.

In Volume II, there are 4 issues or journals, three of Latin American literature and one of Advanced Composition (years 2020-2021). This volume has been named “Post” because of its postmodern approach within Hispanic Cultural Studies.

These issues are also of great importance because they respond to the literary, professional, and linguistic work in Spanish produced during the peak of the pandemic, when teaching had to become a synchronous experience through virtual space.
