My project is focused on identifying and responding to Christian nationalism in United States politics by utilizing Albert Camus’s novel The Plague. The Plague found heightened popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic and its lasting legacy points to what should be long-term prominence in the public eye. With its popularity and anti-fascist content, The Plague is an appropriate text to utilize for addressing America’s Christian nationalism. Does the use of media strategies help social movements or mass protest movements in Southeast Asia achieve their goals? The prominent study in this area argues that social media, in particular, has done more harm than good for grassroots movements. Tufekci (2017) argues that social media provides little help compared to the regime. The book describes the historical context for the Scaramouche tragic pantomime created by Poul Knudsen and Jean Sibelius in 1913. The pantomime had numerous productions in various European countries between 1922 and 1977, and the book examines all of them according to all available evidence. วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้เป็นการศึกษาแนวทางการแปลบทพากย์วิดีโอเกม Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas สำหรับการนำไปพากย์ในภาษาไทย โดยสังเคราะห์แนวทางการแปลและพากย์ตัวบทคัดสรร จากทฤษฎี แนวคิด และหลักการที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการแปลบทพากย์ การแปลเกม และการแปลตัวบทที่มีปัญหาด้านความขัดแย้งเชิงอุดมการณ์ของนักแปล บนสมมติฐานที่ว่าการประยุกต์ใช้ทฤษฎีดังกล่าวจะสามารถนำมาสังเคราะห์เป็นกลวิธีการแก้ปัญหาการแปลบทพากย์ของวิดีโอเกม Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas โดยเฉพาะในส่วนของปัญหาด้านความขัดแย้งเชิงอุดมการณ์ของนักแปลได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ และสามารถนำบทแปลมาพากย์เป็นฉบับภาษาไทยได้อย่างเป็นธรรมชาติในวัฒนธรรมปลายทาง ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ทฤษฎี แนวคิด และหลักการที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการแปลบทพากย์เกมที่ที่มีปัญหาด้านความขัดแย้งเชิงอุดมการณ์ของนักแปลดังกล่าวข้างต้น สามารถนำมาสังเคราะห์เป็นกลวิธีในการแก้ไขปัญหาในการแปลบทพากย์เกม Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas และนำมาใช้พากย์ได้โดยถ่ายทอดความหมายได้ใกล้เคียงกับตัวบทต้นฉบับมากที่สุด

สารนิพนธ์ฉบับนี้จัดทำขึ้นเพื่อศึกษาและหาแนวทางการแปลกริยาไร้ประธาน “ให้” ที่แสดงมาลาบอกเล่า มาลาสั่ง และมาลาอนุญาตใน พระราชบัญญัติส่งเสริมการพัฒนาและคุ้มครองสถาบันครอบครัว พ.ศ. 2562 จากภาษาไทยเป็นภาษาอังกฤษ โดยมีสมมติฐานว่า กริยาไร้ประธาน “ให้” เป็นคำแสดงมาลาบอกเล่า มาลาสั่ง และมาลาอนุญาต และในการแปลกริยาดังกล่าวจากภาษาไทยเป็นภาษาอังกฤษจะขึ้นอยู่กับประเภทของมาลา โดยจะต้องเลือกคำแสดงมาลาที่สอดคล้องกันในภาษากฎหมายอังกฤษ จากการศึกษาพบกริยาไร้ประธาน “ให้” ในตัวบททั้งสิ้น 74 จุด แบ่งเป็นโครงสร้าง ให้ + (กรรม) + กริยา 60 จุด และ (กรรม) + ให้ + กริยา 14 จุด ไม่ละกรรม 55 จุด และละกรรม 19 จุด โดยสามารถจำแนกมาลาออกเป็น 4 ประเภท ได้แก่ 1) มาลาสั่ง 52 จุด 2) มาลาบอกเล่า 15 จุด 3) มาลาอนุญาต 6 จุด และ 4) มาลาสั่ง + อนุญาต 1 จุด กริยาไร้ประธาน "ให้" ที่พบสามารถแปลโดยใช้คำแสดงมาลาที่สอดคล้องกันในภาษากฎหมายอังกฤษ 60 จุด อีก 11 จุดต้องปรับเป็นคำชนิดอื่นเพื่อให้สอดคล้องกับโครงสร้างประโยคภาษาอังกฤษ และอีก 3 จุดไม่ได้ทำการแปลเพื่อหลีกเลี่ยงความซ้ำซ้อน กล่าวโดยสรุปได้ว่ากริยาไร้ประธาน “ให้” ในตัวบทส่วนใหญ่อยู่ในโครงสร้าง ให้ + (กรรม) + กริยา (81.08%) ไม่ละกรรม (74.32%) แสดงมาลาสั่ง (70.27%) และสามารถแปลโดยใช้คำแสดงมาลาที่สอดคล้องกันในภาษากฎหมายอังกฤษ (81.08%) ผลการวิจัยสอดคล้องกับสมมติฐานที่ตั้งไว้และยังสอดคล้องกับงานวิจัยที่ผ่านมาซึ่งระบุว่ากริยาไร้ประธาน “ให้” ในภาษากฎหมายไทยสื่อความหมายสั่งและอนุญาต งานวิจัยนี้ยังพบประเด็นที่น่าสนใจเพิ่มเติม 2 ประการ ได้แก่ …

สารนิพนธ์นี้เป็นงานวิจัยที่ศึกษาความเชื่อมโยงระหว่างการเคลื่อนที่เกิดขึ้นในกระบวนการแปลปาฐกถาเรื่อง “Democracy and Patronage System of Thailand” กับหน้าที่หรือวัตถุประสงค์ของบทแปลรวมถึงอุดมการณ์ของผู้แปล โดยใช้รูปแบบการวิเคราะห์เชิงระบบสำหรับการแปลเชิงพรรณนาของเจเรมี่ มันเดย์และทฤษฎีเรื่องเล่าของโมนา เบเคอร์การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลมีขั้นตอนทั้งหมด 2 ขั้นตอนหลัก โดยขั้นตอนที่ 1 เป็นการศึกษาต้นฉบับและสำนวนแปล 2 ฉบับโดยใช้รูปแบบการวิเคราะห์เชิงระบบสำหรับการแปลเชิงพรรณนาของมันเดย์ ซึ่งประกอบด้วย 3 ขั้นตอนย่อย ได้แก่ (1) การวิเคราะห์ด้วยทฤษฎีไวยากรณ์ระบบและหน้าที่ (2) การวิเคราะห์ด้วยภาษาศาสตร์คลังข้อมูล และ (3) การวิเคราะห์ร่วมกับบริบททางสังคมและการเมือง และขั้นตอนที่ 2 ได้แก่ได้แก่การนำผลการวิเคราะห์ที่ได้จากขั้นตอนแรกมาวิเคราะห์ร่วมกับทฤษฎีเรื่องเล่า (Narrative Theory) โดยมุ่งศึกษาประเด็นทั้งหมด 3 ประเด็น ได้แก่ (1) ประเภทของเรื่องเล่าที่พบในกระบวนการแปลต้นฉบับ (2) องค์ประกอบของเรื่องเล่าที่เชื่อมโยงกับการเคลื่อนที่พบ (3) กลวิธีในการกำหนดกรอบเรื่องเล่าที่เชื่อมโยงกับการเคลื่อนที่พบจากการวิเคราะห์ต้นฉบับและสำนวนแปล 2 ฉบับตามขั้นตอนข้างต้น ทำให้พิสูจน์สมมติฐานได้ว่าการเคลื่อนที่เกิดขึ้นมีความเชื่อมโยงกับวัตถุประสงค์ในการแปลรวมถึงอุดมการณ์ของผู้แปล ผ่านการใช้ภาษาไม่ว่าจะในเชิงการสื่อความคิด เชิงการสื่อบุคคลสัมพันธ์ และเชิงความเรียง และการที่มีการเคลื่อนที่สามารถเชื่อมโยงได้กับองค์ประกอบของเรื่องเล่าทั้ง 4 องค์ประกอบ ได้แก่การลำดับเรื่อง ความเชื่อมโยงของเรื่องเล่า การวางโครงเรื่อง และ การเลือกสรรข้อมูล และการใช้กลวิธีในการวางกรอบเรื่องเล่า ได้แก่การเลือกสรรข้อมูล การใช้ถ้อยคำตีตรา และการเปลี่ยนตำแหน่งผู้ที่เกี่ยวข้องในเหตุการณ์ แสดงให้เห็นว่าการเคลื่อนเหล่านั้นมีส่วนในการประกอบสร้างเรื่องเล่าของผู้แปลแต่ละคนให้มีความสอดคล้องกับวัตถุประสงค์ของบทแปลและอุดมการณ์ของผู้แปลนอกจากนั้น การวิเคราะห์ด้วยทฤษฎีเรื่องเล่าทำให้พบว่าการแปลปาฐกถาเรื่อง “Democracy and Patronage System of Thailand” นำเสนอเรื่องเล่าปัจเจกบุคคล 1 เรื่องได้แก่เรื่องเล่าที่แสดงถึงจุดยืนของนายจักรภพต่อระบบอุปถัมภ์ เรื่องเล่าสาธารณะ 1 เรื่องได้แก่เรื่องเล่าสาธารณะว่าด้วยบทบาทของพระมหากษัตริย์ในสังคมไทย เรื่องเล่าวิชาการ 1 เรื่องได้แก่เรื่องเล่าวิชาการว่าด้วยระบบอุปถัมภ์และประชาธิปไตย และเรื่องเล่าแม่บท 1 เรื่องได้แก่เรื่องเล่าแม่บทว่าด้วยการเข้าสู่ประชาธิปไตย

สารนิพนธ์ฉบับนี้จัดทําขึ้นโดยมีวัตถุประสงค์ในการศึกษาเรื่องบทบรรยายใต้ภาพ, ความขบขัน, และการเล่นคํา เพื่อทําความเข้าใจการเล่นคําที่ก่อให้เกิดความขบขันในละครซิทคอมเรื่อง Mind Your Language แล้วช่วยให้ผู้วิจัยพบแนวทางการแปลที่หลากหลายซึ่งสามารถสร้างอารมณ์ขันให้ผู้ชมในภาษาปลายทางได้ทั้งนี้ ผู้วิจัยได้ศึกษาแนวทางการแปลบทบรรยายใต้ภาพของเฮนริค ก็อตต์ลีบ (Henrik Gottlieb), การศึกษาความไม่เข้ากัน (Incongruity and Resolution), การศึกษาทฤษฎีความเกี่ยวข้องสัมพันธ์ (Relevance theory) ของแดน สเปอร์เบอร์ (Dan Sperber) และเดร์เดอร์ วิลสัน (Deirdre Wilson), การศึกษาทฤษฎีระบบภาษา (Register theory) ของไมเคิล ฮัลลิเดย์ (Michael Halliday) และแนวทางการแปลการเล่นคําของเดิร์ก ดิลาบาสทิทา (Dirk Delabastita) เพื่อเป็นแนวทางในการวิเคราะห์ตัวบท และวิเคราะห์ปัญหาในการถ่ายทอดความขบขันในตัวบทที่เป็นสื่อโสตทัศน์ (Audiovisual work) รวมทั้งวางแผนแก้ปัญหาดังกล่าวผลการศึกษาวิจัยพบว่า ทฤษฎีและแนวทางต่าง ๆ ข้างต้นสามารถช่วยให้ผู้วิจัยเข้าใจกระบวนการสร้างความขบขันของการเล่นคำที่สัมพันธ์กับเนื้อเรื่อง รวมทั้งประเภทของการเล่นคำที่เกิดในแต่ละสถานการณ์ ซึ่งทำให้ผู้วิจัยรู้ว่าควรแปลการเล่นคำในภาษาอังกฤษให้สอดคล้องกับการเล่นคำในภาษาไทยอย่างไร และเมื่อพบการเล่นคำที่มีความแตกต่างด้านวัฒนธรรมร่วมด้วย ผู้วิจัยก็พบว่าควรปรับให้เข้ากับวัฒนธรรมและสังคมของผู้ชมในภาษาปลายทางเพื่อให้พวกเขาเข้าใจความไม่เข้ากันที่เกิดขึ้นให้เหตุการณ์นั้น ๆ แล้วรู้สึกขบขันตรงตามจุดมุ่งหมายของละครซิทคอม อย่างไรก็ตาม บางกรณีก็มีข้อจำกัดด้านภาพซึ่งปรากฏมาพร้อมกับบทบรรยายใต้ภาพที่มีการเล่นคำ ส่งผลให้ผู้วิจัยไม่อาจคงลักษณะของการเล่นคำตามตัวบทต้นฉบับไว้ได้
