This research article explains the ethical principles of the conflict in Tigray based on the Just War Theory. By using the descriptive qualitative methodology, this research article draws data from secondary sources which includes; academic journals, news reports, as well as international legal instruments to analyze the moral trajectory of the conflict. This research begins with jus ad bellum, to assess Ethiopia’s government justification in declaring conflict within Tigray. Through an analysis of President Donald Trump's October 2025 travel to Asia, this study investigates the consequences of U.S. Indo-Pacific strategy under his second-term diplomacy. The paper examines three significant diplomatic encounters—the ASEAN Summit in Malaysia, bilateral meetings in Japan, and the APEC Summit in South Korea—using a qualitative case study methodology based on role theory and foreign policy analysis. The results show that alliance-centered security cooperation, strategic balancing toward China, and selective economic engagement were U.S. Indo-Pacific goals. This collection helps students of Chinese and Japanese explore the histories behind the languages they study. Often, language courses focus on mastering a "standard" version without looking at its context. These readings bridge that gap.

Each entry investigates how certain language varieties became the national standard and what happened to other varieties and languages that were left out. By looking at these historical and colonial contexts, the collection helps students understand the power dynamics that shape language today. …

After the World War II, Japan has been adopting a pacifist Constitution and established the Japan Self-Defense Forces (JSDF) for narrow self-defense operations. The JSDF are restricted from having offensive military weapons. However, Japan’s pacifism and restrained security policy have been evolving recently, especially during the term of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe (2012-2020). The latest example is Japan’s plan to enable forward defense and counterstrike. This paper explores the transformation of Japan’s military through the revolution of military affairs (RMA) concept. Taiwan, strategically located in the South China Sea, has long faced challenges in asserting its sovereignty. While much of the existing scholarship focuses on the 20th-century conflict between the Chinese Nationalist Party (Kuomintang) and the Chinese Communist Party, this study turns to the mid-17^th century to trace the roots of the island’s contested status. It centers on Zheng Chenggong (1624–1662), also known as Koxinga, who established the Ming loyalist Kingdom of Tungning in Taiwan (1661–1683) following the fall of the Ming dynasty. This study explores the relationship between different forms of racial harassment and mental health issues in Asian American college students. Asian American mental health is a growing concern in the field of public health. Asian Americans have the lowest treatment rates and some of the highest stigma levels of any demographic. They are also impacted by the model minority myth and discrimination, further alienating them from getting help. The topics of subtle racism, blatant racism, and current racial discrimination were compared to depressive symptoms, anxiety, self-esteem, and four domains of aggression using survey data. Between 1932 and 1945 an estimated 200,000 women across the globe were coerced into becoming comfort women for the Japanese military. As comfort women they were forced to prostitute themselves to soldiers, and endured physical, psychological and emotional torture. While comfort stations were liberated in 1945 with the end of World War II, the Japanese government has yet to formally apologize for their treatment of comfort women, and has failed to meet the demands of survivors and their families who seek reconciliation and justice. Building upon comparative principles, this semantic reading of Jun’ichirō Tanizaki’s essay In Praise of Shadows and J.M.G. Le Clézio’s early writings illustrates how both the Franco-Mauritian author and the Japanese writer problematize modern Western perception laden with concepts stifling flexible imagination through the mysterious worldview of light/darkness. They also simultaneously express the hope that another way of life leading to liberation is possible. This article gives an account of the development of Buddhist musical practices on the Indian subcontinent from their earliest, datable instances, to the disappearance of Buddhist institutions from India proper, demonstrating the persistence of descendant traditions of Sanskrit Buddhist chant and song in contemporary Japanese, Tibetan, and Newar esoteric Buddhist communities. By examining the complex history of these terms within fan communities in Japan, China, and Korea across different historical periods, this research argues that the current LCSH oversimplifies the genre's rich cultural context and ongoing innovation, creating barriers to effective information retrieval and access. Nourishing Connections: Chinese Immigrant Identity In Tokyo Through Commensality And Hospitality, Sarai Brown

This paper explores how Chinese immigrants in Tokyo, Japan preserve their cultural identity through practices of commensality and hospitality in stark contrast to Japanese culture. In Chinese culture, hospitality – mainly acts of food sharing – is how kinship relations are built and maintained, eventually growing into an important hierarchy network that ultimately builds a fully realized identity created out of communal belonging. Japanese culture in this sense is not as hospitable, deeming food-sharing as an extremely private and high-risk affair that is considered low-risk in Chinese contexts.

งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาลักษณะการใช้และการเลี่ยงใช้หน่วยสร้างกรรมวาจกในภาษาญี่ปุ่น ภาษาไทย และภาษาอังกฤษ โดยให้ความสำคัญกับการวิเคราะห์ประเด็นเกี่ยวกับสัดส่วนการใช้ จุดร่วมการใช้ ลักษณะการใช้ที่พบเฉพาะในแต่ละภาษา และลักษณะการเลี่ยงใช้ในแต่ละภาษา งานวิจัยนี้วิเคราะห์ผ่านคลังข้อมูลคู่ขนานที่ทำการเก็บข้อมูลจากเรื่อง “แฮร์รี่ พอตเตอร์กับนักโทษแห่งอัซคาบัน” ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ภาษาญี่ปุ่นและภาษาอังกฤษมีการใช้หน่วยสร้างกรรมวาจกในสัดส่วนที่มากและใกล้เคียงกัน ในขณะที่ภาษาไทยพบสัดส่วนการใช้ที่น้อยกว่าอีกสองภาษา ส่วนจุดร่วมในการใช้หน่วยสร้างกรรมวาจกของทั้งสามภาษาคือคำกริยาที่สร้างความเปลี่ยนแปลงให้กับประธานของประโยคและมีความเป็นสกรรมสูง โดยมีแนวโน้มเป็นคำกริยาความหมายเชิงลบ และประธานที่ใช้มักเป็นคำนามที่มีชีวิต ส่วนลักษณะการใช้หน่วยสร้างกรรมวาจกที่พบเฉพาะในแต่ละภาษา กรณีภาษาไทยพบลักษณะการบรรยายผลลัพธ์จากการถูกกระทำร่วมกับหน่วยสร้างกรรมวาจกโดยใช้โครงสร้าง “ถูก+กริยา(กระทำ)+ผลลัพธ์” กรณีภาษาญี่ปุ่นใช้หน่วยสร้างกรรมวาจกเพื่อรักษาความเป็นประธานต่อเนื่องของประโยค (subject continuity) และกรณีภาษาอังกฤษใช้หน่วยสร้างกรรมวาจกร่วมกับคำนามที่ไม่มีชีวิต ส่วนลักษณะการเลี่ยงใช้หน่วยสร้างกรรมวาจก กรณีภาษาญี่ปุ่นเลี่ยงใช้หน่วยสร้างกรรมวาจกโดยใช้คำนามมากที่สุด ส่วนภาษาอังกฤษจะเลี่ยงใช้โดยใช้บุรุษสรรพนามร่วมกับหน่วยสร้างกรรตุวาจก ในขณะที่ภาษาไทยพบประเภทของหน่วยสร้างที่นำมาใช้ทดแทนหน่วยสร้างกรรมวาจกได้มากที่สุด เช่น หน่วยสร้าง “มี”, หน่วยสร้างกรรตุวาจก, หน่วยสร้าง “ให้” เป็นต้น โดยหน่วยสร้าง “มี” เป็นหน่วยสร้างที่สามารถใช้ทดแทนหน่วยสร้างกรรมวาจก “ถูก” ได้ในระดับหนึ่ง

งานวิจัยนี้ศึกษาการตั้งชื่อท่าไม้ตายที่พบในหนังสือการ์ตูนหรือมังงะทั้งในฉบับภาษาญี่ปุ่นและฉบับแปลภาษาไทยว่ามีขนบการตั้งชื่ออย่างไร และเมื่อแปลเป็นภาษาไทยแล้วจะมีการใช้ขนบหรือมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงอย่างไรบ้าง ผู้วิจัยรวบรวมกับศึกษาท่าไม้ตายในมังงะภาษาญี่ปุ่นจำนวน 16 เรื่อง และศึกษาฉบับแปลภาษาไทยจำนวน 10 เรื่อง รวมทั้งหมด 1,435 ท่าในฉบับภาษาญี่ปุ่น และ 636 ท่าในฉบับภาษาไทย และได้ทำการวิเคราะห์ประเด็นหลักทั้งสองภาษาโดยรวมจำนวน 8 ประเด็นได้แก่ 1) จำนวนคำ 2) วลีชื่อเฉพาะ 3) หน่วยเสียงพยางค์ 4) รูปเขียนตัวอักษร 5) ตัวอักษรรูบิ (ルビ) 6) ภาพพื้นหลังกับเครื่องหมาย 7) การใช้ภาษาบาลี - สันสกฤตในชื่อภาษาไทย 8) กลวิธีการแปลชื่อท่าไม้ตาย นอกจากนี้ผู้วิจัยศึกษาว่าขนบการตั้งชื่อท่าไม้ตายมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงตามกาลเวลาหรือไม่ด้วย ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1) จำนวนคำในท่าไม้ตายภาษาญี่ปุ่นจะนิยมการใช้ 2 คำ เพื่อความกระชับ ในขณะที่ชื่อภาษาไทยจะมีการใช้จำนวนคำที่ยาวกว่า 2) วลีชื่อเฉพาะในท่าไม้ตายภาษาญี่ปุ่นนิยมใช้คำนามกับคำนาม ในขณะที่ภาษาไทยนิยมใช้คำกริยากับคำนามมากกว่าเพื่อขายความให้คนไทยเข้าใจ 3) หน่วยเสียงพยางค์ของทั้งสองภาษานิยมการใช้ 10 พยางค์ขึ้นไป แต่ฉบับภาษาไทยจะนิยมการใช้ 5-6 พยางค์ในแต่ละเรื่องมากกว่า 4) ชื่อท่าไม้ตายภาษาญี่ปุ่นนิยมตัวอักษรคันจิมากที่สุด รองลงมาคือคาตากานะและฮิรางานะกับคันจิ 5) ตัวอักษรรูบินิยมการใช้ตัวอักษรฮิรางานะเพื่อบอกวิธีอ่านทั่วไปมากกว่า 6) ภาพพื้นหลังกับเครื่องหมายมีความสัมพันธ์กับชื่อท่าไม้ตาย และการใช้เครื่องหมายก็มีการเปลี่ยนแปลงตามกาลเวลาด้วย 7) ภาษาบาลี-สันสกฤตพบการนิยมใช้ในชื่อของท่าไม้ตายฉบับแปล และการเลือกใช้จะขึ้นกับรูปแบบการแปลของผู้แปลแต่ละคนหรือสำนักพิมพ์นั้นๆ 8) กลวิธีการแปลนิยมการแปลแบบตรงตัวมากที่สุด นอกจากนี้ยังพบการแปลที่สร้างคำศัพท์ใหม่โดยอิงจากภาพพื้นหลังหรือบริบทของเนื้อเรื่องด้วย 9) ท่าไม้ตายในช่วงยุคค.ศ. 1980 จะเน้นรูปภาพที่แสดงถึงการตะโกนเสียงดังมากกว่า และท่าไม้ตายที่มีขนาดสั้น อย่างไรก็ตามท่าไม้ตายในยุคค.ศ. 2000 นั้นนิยมการใช้คำบรรยายมากกว่า และชื่อท่าไม้ตายมีความยาวมากขึ้นด้วย

This study used a survey to investigate self-study and university-enrolled Chinese learners’ habits in studying Chinese vocabulary in order to determine what study methods influence a.) learners’ confidence in learning Chinese vocabulary and b.) what aspects of Chinese vocabulary they consider easy or difficult. We were particularly interested in seeing what the data had to say about students’ attitudes towards characters and the written language, given that the field of Chinese language pedagogy is known for a stronger focus on the written language as opposed to the spoken language. It compares Fortes' memoir with Fernando Gabeira's O que é isso, companheiro? (What's This, Comrade?) from 1979, examining diverse approaches to capturing historical trauma through literature and its impact on collective memory about Brazilian Dictatorship (1964-1985).

While, studying on-site can be somewhat uncomfortable, it can potentially prompt unique reflections, enhance student’s learning and encourage introspection. Being on-site provides the opportunity to come into contact and to connect with the physical objects and their environment. It enables a multisensory and immersive embodied experience. Leveraging art for communicative educational activities can facilitate a participatory experience, promote critical thinking and enhance cultural understanding.
