Rising tensions and an increased number of incidents between China and Japan in the current century show that the Nanjing Massacre has had an indisputable effect on modern Sino-Japanese relations politically and socially. Iris Chang’s book of popular history, The Rape of Nanking (1997), both renewed scholarly research and moved the debate into the public eye. This shift in the debate has led to continuing tensions between the two societies even as their governments officially maintain a peaceful relationship. In the second part of his work, Michelet creates nominative witches after authentic texts. In the first part, he creates an allegoric witch on the Medea model: the Woman, a victim of arbitrariness, injustice and repression, rises up against her oppressors, figuring the march of Humanity towards Enlightenment and Liberty. สารนิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาภาษากะเทย (おネエことば) ที่ปรากฏในสื่อหนังสือการ์ตูนญี่ปุ่นหรือ “มังงะ” และรวบรวมทำเป็นฐานข้อมูล ผู้วิจัยศึกษาภาษากะเทยจากมังงะที่มีตัวละครกะเทยปรากฏและพูดด้วยภาษากะเทยจำนวน 48 ตัวละคร รวมจำนวนประโยคตัวอย่างทั้งหมด 886 ตัวอย่าง มาทำการวิเคราะห์การแสดงอัตลักษณ์โดยวิเคราะห์ใน 4 ประเด็นดังนี้ 1) การใช้สรรพนามของตัวละคร 2) ส่วนลงท้ายประโยค 3) คำไพเราะ (美化語) 4) คำศัพท์ที่แสดงความเป็นภาษากะเทย และเสริมประเด็นการวิเคราะห์อื่นที่ตัวผู้วิจัยสนใจอีก 2 ประเด็นได้แก่ 1) การใช้สัญลักษณ์ เครื่องหมายวรรคตอน และอีโมจิ 2) รูปเขียนฮิรางานะ คาตากานะ และคันจิ นอกจากนี้ก็ยังสอดแทรกการเปรียบเทียบความแตกต่างของการแสดงอัตลักษณ์โดยแยกประเภทมังงะตามกลุ่มผู้อ่านของเรื่องผลการวิจัยพบว่า โดยภาพรวมภาษากะเทยในภาษาญี่ปุ่นเป็นภาษาที่ใช้ภาษาผู้หญิงเป็นพื้นฐานแล้วเพิ่มเติมลักษณะพิเศษบางอย่างลงไปทำให้เกิดความแตกต่างจากภาษาผู้หญิงทั่วไป การแสดงอัตลักษณ์มีความโน้มเอียงไปทางภาษาผู้หญิงเป็นส่วนใหญ่ จึงนำเสนอความเป็นผู้หญิงผ่านสรรพนาม ส่วนลงท้ายประโยค คำไพเราะ คำศัพท์ การใช้สัญลักษณ์ เครื่องหมายวรรคตอนและอีโมจิ อย่างไรก็ตามก็มีการแฝงความแข็งกร้าวโน้มเอียงไปทางผู้ชายในรูปแบบภาษาเหล่านี้ด้วย ทั้งนี้ ในกรณีรูปเขียนค้นพบว่ามีความโน้มเอียงไปทางผู้ชายผ่านการใช้คาตากานะและคันจิ ทำให้ภาษากะเทยมีลักษณะการแสดงอัตลักษณ์ที่อยู่กึ่งกลางระหว่างสองเพศ สำหรับการศึกษาความแตกต่างแยกตามกลุ่มผู้อ่านของเรื่องพบว่าภาษากะเทยในมังงะเด็กผู้ชายและมังงะเด็กผู้หญิงไม่ค่อยมีความแตกต่างกัน ซึ่งแสดงให้เห็นถึงการแสดงอัตลักษณ์ของภาษากะเทยที่มีแบบแผนที่ชัดเจน ไม่เปลี่ยนแปลงไปตามเพศของผู้อ่าน

Le parfait crime (1995) by Jean Baudrillard and Crimen ferpecto (2004) by the Basque director Alex de la Iglesia are two works that not only have in common almost identical titles. They both reflect on how in consumer societies, an imperfect real world is substituted for an illusory hyperreality in which the distinction between subject and object has disappeared. This article explores a set of shared challenges that tend to emerge for East Asian Librarians in working with Buddhist studies materials. It outlines how Buddhist linguistic conventions can give rise to an unpredictability in reference work, how its historical textual practices can complicate collections development, and how Buddhist temple archive management can make traditional approaches to research advising unreliable. It also proposes that these challenges provide distinct opportunities for collaboration across Chinese, Japanese, and Korean areas of bibliographic coverage. The Diaoyu Islands are a small, uninhabited archipelago in the East China Sea which has begun increasing in strategic significance due to its advantageous location near Taiwan and along the First Island Chain. The islands are currently under Japanese administration, but the People’s Republic of China considers them historically Chinese and contests Japan’s claim to the islands. On 7 July 1937, Japanese forces based in Manchuria charged southward towards Beijing, invading north China and hence starting the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937–45). On 7 December 1941, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, transforming the Second Sino-Japanese War into the Pacific War. As a result of Pearl Harbor, the status of Allied citizens living in China at the time changed from neutral to ‘enemy aliens’. These Allied citizens included individuals and their families who worked in China as government officials, executives, engineers and Christian missionaries. This article investigates the way in which Cuban literature reflected on indigenous people during the early half of the nineteenth century and uses the symbol of the Amerindians to demonstrate a moral disjuncture between them and the colonizer. In this article, I call attention to the way Cuban independentists and Spanish nationalists used this figure to support their views and thus created a split in the Cuban creole imagination. This paper explores the concepts of "Border Culture" and "Borderlands" by Gloria Anzaldúa in Soy la Avon Lady and Other Stories, Homicide Survivors Picnic and Other Stories, by Lorraine López and the novel Mijito Doesn’t Live Here Anymore by Jaime Martínez. The paper argues that the Mexican American character in the southeast of the United States lives in the "Borderlands" and practices a "Border Culture" because they don't follow the traditional stereotypical role of the Mexican American character within the literary canon of both the dominant culture and Chicana/o literature.

Over time, mobile devices have penetrated the classroom, requiring new and beneficial ways to implement classroom instruction. Research suggests that Short Message Service (SMS) based instruction is an effective tool for acquiring second language (L2) vocabulary and idiom knowledge (Hayati, Jalilifar, & Mashhadi; Lu,). Additionally, studies have found that students believe that mobile learning (m-learning) is beneficial to acquiring a second language (Cavus & Ibrahim; Hayati, Jalilifar, & Mashhadi; Lu, 2008). This paper examines the racial wedge driven by Whites between Blacks and Asian Americans during the Cold War on to the present. Model minorities is a term coined by whites in the 1960s to suppress Civil Rights protests and Black demands. By elevating a minority group through success stories, whites constructed a means to suppress Black people’s organizing for change against systemic racism and oppression.

BL and danmei, two terms meaning male x male fiction in Japan and China respectively, are popular genres for young women in East Asia. This paper compares BL and danmei, which are connected by history and definition, but have a few key differences. Namely, differences that are due to Chinese censorship and Japan's relative lack thereof and differences in distribution. These differences leading to China's danmei fandom being more insular and almost entirely online in contrast to Japan's slightly more public BL fandom.
