Overlay: Language Uncovered presents a series of installations that address my experience navigating learning challenges during my formative years, and strategies I have developed for thriving within those educational settings. This body of work represents three years of introspection and research, leading to a deeper acknowledgement and understanding of the obstacles I faced in learning. The installations feature large-scale sculptures made from a range of materials including, vinyl, styrofoam, acrylic, paper, silk screen mesh, metal and light. The primary purpose of this quantitative study was to determine if there is a relationship between fatherly involvement in students’ lives and select factors of student descriptors and school success. Specifically, the study sought to discover if there is a significant relationship between fatherlessness and student success and if there is a significant relationship between fatherlessness and select student descriptors. Descriptive statistics and linear regression were used to interpret and analyze the data for the study. There were 1,780 respondents who participated in the study. It was the intent of this study to create a series of original pieces of jewelry and micro-sculpture employing new ideas with traditional methods and techniques; (1) combining common gadgets of everyday use into unusual surroundings in order to create a piece of jewelry; and (2) applying new concepts in the manufacturing of jewelry by means of experimental castings.

The purpose of this study was to make a series of jewelry, conceived as small sculpture, using the human figure in relation to environmental form. The review of literature pertinent to the study consisted of a presentation of the visual and philosophical content in the work of Rico Lebrun and Ernest Trova, and an analysis of the work of the candidate as influenced by these artists.

It was the purpose of this study (1) to apply metals which are adaptive to the casting of jewelry pieces; (2) to use a variety of methods in casting these pieces, the choices of which are governed by the alloy or alloys employed, and the materials used; and (3) to modify the designs in accordance with the alloy employed, and the methods and materials used.
