Colin Magazine Photo: Trigun, Megan K. Woods
Colin Magazine Photo: Trigun, Megan K. Woods
Staff Scholarship - Australia & Dubai
This entry details a photograph of Meg Woods in costume as Vash the Stampede from Trigun and was included in a collection published by Colin Magazine. It demonstrates expertise and mastery over costuming practices and photo shoot planning, including pre production and post editing. These skills include textile and prop design, lighting, location scouting, collaboration between creatives, performance in front of a camera and understanding of the cultural elements of transmedia (such as the representation of animated characters in real world contexts).
This work also emphasises the advantages of using Australian locations to create images that would be impossible to …
Victim/Perpetrator, David D. Moy
Victim/Perpetrator, David D. Moy
Theses and Dissertations
Throughout this text, David Moy will discuss the inner working of his investigation on image overload and materialization. Through tactics of blurring, erasure, and layering he achieves obfuscation in his printed media. In doing so, he questions the compounding nature of image/text that negate themselves in the larger context of time in the digital age.
Shapes That Hide Their Shadows, Jennifer Blaine
Shapes That Hide Their Shadows, Jennifer Blaine
Theses and Dissertations
shapes that hide their shadows concerns itself with the mutability of memory. The complexities of girlhood to womanhood, and the way we are shaped by place and space, are explored through the artist recounting childhood memories connected to her grandparents' hometowns. Divided into three different sections, the artist discusses drawing as medium, creating a lexicon through using visual symbols, and the logistics of building your own archive.
Glitched Humanity: A Digital Media Arts Advocacy Project, Shelly Maloney
Glitched Humanity: A Digital Media Arts Advocacy Project, Shelly Maloney
Teaching Resource Archive
This lesson includes an original sample project and website that directs students towards learning how to utilize digital glitch art to create advocacy or raise awareness for the social, cultural, environmental, or political issue of their choice. It is designed to engage students in critical thinking skills, cross-curricular connections, reflective writing, digital art making, group discussion, and peer review.
Artists can use video and other media sources to explore the self-destructive tendencies of human nature (i.e. violence/war, consumption, and/or carelessness/environmental neglect) or other social, cultural, or political issues using digital manipulation, layered imagery, sound, and video.

Relevance:
Personal Relevance: This project merges my passion for film photography and modern technology, aiming to create a design that bridges traditional and modern practices.
Local Relevance: Richmond’s rich historical context provides an ideal setting to illystrate that traditional arts like analog photography can be preserved while integrating modern digital technology.
Global Relevance: Globally, there is an increasing trend toward combining traditional and modern design approaches, particularly in architecture and interior design. Synthesizing analog and digital means is used to meet the balance between materiality and modern technology (Rose, 2014; Pelizzari & Scrivano, 2011). Designers balance tactile materials like wood …
Barca Nostra: Photography, Tourists, Travel And Refugees, Panizza Allmark
Barca Nostra: Photography, Tourists, Travel And Refugees, Panizza Allmark
Research outputs 2022 to 2026
The relic of the Mediterranean’s deadliest shipwreck, in which around 1000 migrants perished at sea in 2015, was resurrected as an art installation displayed at the 58th Venice Art Biennale titled Barca Nostra (Our Boat), by artist Christoph Büchel in 2019. The shipwreck was placed on a wharf near a café at the festival without an accompanying descriptive text. It was considered disrespectful, as it is a display of a site of tragic Black deaths for white middle-class spectatorial consumption. It served as a site for tourist selfies. It also serves as a memorial and sparks debates about migration and …
Lives And Lessons Of Zoo Animals, Nicole Emlen
Lives And Lessons Of Zoo Animals, Nicole Emlen
Undergraduate Theses, Professional Papers, and Capstone Artifacts
This project was an interdisciplinary museum exhibit that was displayed at the Montana Natural History Center between April 4 and May 12, 2025. It displays my photographs that I took of some of the animals I worked with during my summer 2024 internship at ZooMontana. In this project, I educate the public about three main functions of zoos--rescue, conservation, and education--through the stories and lives of four species. These animals all have unique stories that are important to share to improve public knowledge of why zoos are important and how we can improve relationships between humans and wildlife. Photography is …
There's Still Time To, Lily Kip
There's Still Time To, Lily Kip
Graduate Student Theses, Dissertations, & Professional Papers
There's Still Time To is a body of work composed of 51 photo-derived oil paintings. Each piece illustrates a relational situation which resists straightforward interpretation and generates infinite narrative possibilities. My source images come from my adolescent engagements with smartphone photography and social media, but the painted results are not focused on "photography" as a subject. Instead, I paint the photo to re-tread old memories and old relationships. The ambiguity of each figurative situation reflects the lived experience of relating to others and also serves as an invitation to the viewer who must base any assumptions about the painting on …
Surrealist Photography: Past, Present, And Future, Carmen Kennedy
Surrealist Photography: Past, Present, And Future, Carmen Kennedy
Honors Projects
Surrealist Photography: Past, Present, and Future is a research project diving into surrealist photographers, contemporary photographers, and AI. Starting the paper, I give historical context on the movement including the founder Andre Breton, surrealist painters that either had a significant contribution or interesting way to create, themes explored, and techniques used. The surrealist photographers I researched are Man Ray, Angus McBean, and Claude Cahun. Then, I analyze the works of Erik Johansson, Pat Brassington, and Aida Muluneh and how their work is inspired by or has the vibe of surrealist photographs from the movement. Lastly, I start to explore the …
The Reveal: A Technical Study And Conservation Treatment Of An Overpaint Portrait, Camille Ferrer
The Reveal: A Technical Study And Conservation Treatment Of An Overpaint Portrait, Camille Ferrer
Art Conservation Master's Projects
A severely damaged 19th-century oil painting depicting a portrait of a woman was treated at Patricia H. and E. Garman Art Conservation Department. A typed letter provided by the owner mentioned that it has been previously restored yet returned with unsatisfactory results. After further examination, the painting appeared to have been previously treated multiple times by different people. There was overpaint distinctly present on the face and later discovered to be present overall. The full state of condition of the painting was initially unknown due to the sum of the surface being overpainted. However, there were evidence of paint loss …
