In this paper I wish both to draw certain connections between Herbert and Frost and at the same time to say something in a general way about the process by which such connections can be made. It is with the latter question that I begin. Once the relation between two writers would have been thought of mainly in terms of "influence." Women writers often experience a conflict between traditional feminine roles and the less traditional role of the female writer. And for those writers, like Anne Sexton, who choose not to choose between roles, the result is conflict. This conflict, recognized by previous critics and evident in Sexton's biography and poetry, results in a domestic imagery expressing this vacillation. In this study, submitted in partial fulfillment for the M. A. degree in English, I provide an in-depth study of Sexton's domestic imagery. My project consists of forty-five paintings, twenty-five postcard-size prints, twenty slides, three postcard-size photographs and thirty poems, each representing one or more of ten themes chosen as a basis for teaching about United States culture. The Courier

When "The Satirical Rogue Once More," a collection of ten roguish comments came to the hands of the Courier editors, it sparked new interest in the writer, who describes himself as "walking round and round Poetry on its pedestal and taking shots at it from every possible angle. Shots with a light gun, a water pistol, a pea shooter." This reawakened interest led directly to another look at the Robert Francis Papers, presented to the University by Mr. Francis from 1967 to 1969, in the manuscript collection of the George Arents Research Library.

Poet, playwright, novelist, graduate of DeWitt Clinton High, New York University, and Harvard University, Countee Cullen (1903–1946) emerged as a leading literary figure of the Harlem Renaissance. Color (1925), his first published book of poetry, confronts head-on what W.E.B. DuBois called “the problem of the 20th century—the problem of the color line.” The work includes 72 poems, such as the following:
