Swastikas At Swat And Student Holocaust Memorial Culture, Nathanael D. Brown
Swastikas At Swat And Student Holocaust Memorial Culture, Nathanael D. Brown
Swarthmore Undergraduate History Journal
A series of antisemitic incidents on the campus of Swarthmore College in 2016 invoked a larger memory culture of the Holocaust for Jewish students. This phenomenon was not an aberration, but rather the product of a well-documented effort by Jewish organizations to create a Holocaust memorial culture that would leave a lasting impact on those who experienced it, especially students. By researching the larger picture of how Holocaust Memory culture was created, and using that and Maurice Halbwachs's “lieu de mémoire'' method of historiography as frameworks, we gain insight into how some Jewish students’ perceptions of antisemitism in 2016 were …

Supporting Christian Gen Z Undergraduates Through Life Setbacks By Equipping Spiritual Directors, Brandon Taylor
Doctor of Ministry

The American College Health Association has surveyed hundreds of thousands of Gen Z college students over the past seven years and found as far back as 2016 that 87.1 percent of the 27,787 undergraduate respondents to their Fall 2016 survey said they felt “overwhelmed by all they had to do'' …

Conflict Profiles And Team Outcomes In Cross-Disciplinary Teams: An Integrated Latent Profile Analysis And Natural Language Processing Approach, Francisco Cima, Pilar Pazos
Engineering Management & Systems Engineering Faculty Publications
Team conflict is a naturally emerging phenomenon resulting from individuals' interactions during project execution. Cross-disciplinary teams can experience higher levels of conflict than single-discipline teams because of the increased diversity of knowledge and perspectives. Research has shown that team conflict can emerge from different types of disagreements (cognitive and interpersonal), which have different implications for team functioning. Past empirical research has focused on the impact of both conflict types independent from each other while overlooking their combined effects. This work examines the conflict profiles resulting from the combined levels of interpersonal and cognitive disagreements and their association with team outcomes. …

The Effects Of Gender On Students’ Learning, Savannah Mansfield
The Effects Of Gender On Students’ Learning, Savannah Mansfield
Capstone Projects and Master's Theses
There are many struggles students face when pursuing an education. These barriers often leave students weary and disheartened, dreading the seven hours a day they are forced to spend at an institution that does not value their needs or identity. This paper will focus on how gender affects students’ learning in schools. In particular, it will discuss the sexualization of feminine-presenting students, the assumption of violence in masculine-presenting students, and the failure to provide safe and inclusive environments for gender-nonconforming students. All of this will be examined through the lens of gender’s effect on relationships within the education system, as …
