L’Enseignement Des Ddnl En Français Au Maroc Teaching Non-Linguistic Subjects In French In Morocco, Laila Zahraoui

This article is a field study initiated back in 2019 and is carried out until now. This contribution sheds light on the teaching of non-linguistic subjects in Morocco, particularly at the level of first-year junior high school (our target population). We have made a comparative study between the public and private sectors while focusing on the different Moroccan educational reforms, most specifically, the strategic vision 2015-2030, and the framework law 51.17.
Our research demonstrates the importance of choosing the language used to teach scientific subjects, from Arabization to francization, its causes, consequences, and obstacles.
Les Soft Skills Au Cœur De La Pédagogie Interculturelle, Oifâa Mtafi, Mustapha Tijjini
Les Soft Skills Au Cœur De La Pédagogie Interculturelle, Oifâa Mtafi, Mustapha Tijjini

Soft skills have an essential role in intercultural pedagogy in the sense that they enable social interaction. Thus, they find their place in intercultural pedagogy because society is becoming more and more multicultural, but they also enable people to be equipped with the behavioural and human competences necessary to accept the Other in his or her difference. In this perspective, the integration of soft skills in intercultural pedagogy in university education cannot be neglected. However, as this term is still new in the Moroccan university system, the question that arises is: What exactly is the place of soft skills in …

Our study attempts to demonstrate the value of exploring teacher discourse, particularly two gestures that we describe as linguistic and didactic gestures. This analysis is intended as a way to describe some of the processes inherent in teacher discourse, especially when the appropriation of knowledge is central to teaching action (Bucheton and Soulé 2009) and this action can only be understood through the paradigm of co-activity, in which language appears as "a window onto teaching activity" (Bucheton and Dezutter, 2008: 13). The work of the teacher in the school context is essentially linguistic; it is a spoken profession. But this …
Le Changement Des Pratiques Éducatives À L’Ère De La Covid-19, Maryam Chawki
Le Changement Des Pratiques Éducatives À L’Ère De La Covid-19, Maryam Chawki
Dirassat
The Covid-19 pandemic has led to the adoption of distance learning instead of face-to-face teaching. Thus, educational practices have taken a new breath of change in the different cycles of education. This situation implied the adoption of a new improvised and imposed didactic discourse, a new posture, and another way of communication and interaction with the learners. The tools used were adapted quickly to serve this immediate need.
This communication will observe the different tools used to facilitate the work of mediation between French teachers and primary school students. We will also question the effectiveness of remote interaction between them. …

Establishing a school climate that is conducive to learning and favorable to the achievement and well-being of all is the major challenge that Moroccan schools are trying to take up, even though many structural, cultural, pedagogical and institutional biases persist.
Ensuring the well-being of everyone within the school organization is a collegial approach requiring the involvement of all educational stakeholders in a positive synergy that allows students to learn together in better conditions and to prepare them to live in society with respect for others and tolerance for differences.
The school as a space of socialization works towards the emergence …

In the digital age, social media have supplanted traditional media, and social media have developed new forms of communication and expression. Moroccan Internet users have also seized this tool to freely express their opinions on many topics that occupy and concern them, including the one in our article: women. Through a corpus of video comments, our analysis revealed the following points: three languages are used by Moroccan Internet users: first, French, then Darija, and finally Standard Arabic. But a correlation quickly emerged between the gender of Internet users, the theme, and the language used; Standard Arabic is thus favored by …

If advertising discourse is governed by a clear communicative intention, the goal of which is to encourage the potential consumer to become a true consumer of the product or service, then the question to be addressed is: how does this transition occur, and through what communicative forms and discursive mechanisms? This article attempts to answer these questions by analyzing the mechanisms that guide the construction of the advertising message and determine the interpretation process.
Le Discours Sur La Modernité Dans L’Œuvre D’Abdelwahab Meddeb, Azzelarab Touda
Le Discours Sur La Modernité Dans L’Œuvre D’Abdelwahab Meddeb, Azzelarab Touda
Dirassat
Any discourse on modernity involves the way of being, thinking and creating and remains strongly linked to the political, ideological and cultural climates that saw it born and evolve, hence thoughts and expressions managed, ipso facto, either in the relationship of fidelity to genealogical belonging, or in that of hospitable overcoming with regard to the other. However, strangely, the discourse on modernity of the writer-poet and essayist Abdelwahab Meddeb is driven by a faithful infidelity with regard to his auroral scene. This duality permeates the Meddebian work of dyonysism and apollinism under the aegis of modernity which frames, at …

The Moroccan university has undergone successive reforms targeting the architecture of training, curricula and teaching practices. Each time, a different discourse is used to give a new breath to the desired change. In 2021, the university space is hosting a program to accelerate the transformation of the ecosystem, known as the ESRI 2030 Pact. Discursively, each departmental initiative is presided over by new concepts that reflect the directions advocated by decision makers in the sector.

Reformulation as a (metadiscursive) linguistic device is often used by science journalists to convey specific scientific knowledge to often uninitiated readers. It generally consists of repeating the same words, the same discourse in another way. It manifests itself particularly in scientific, media etc. This communication aims to show the importance of reformulation in the transmission of scientific knowledge related to the field of health. Our objective is to see in what circumstances the scientific journalist uses the processes of reformulation. The data analyzed come from a corpus composed of a set of journalistic articles dealing with subjects related to the …

Particularités Discursives Du Slogan Électoral Des Partis Politiques Marocains, Amina Erradi
Dirassat
The electoral slogan, this short of linguistic form, is an intrument of political mobilization, having a certain role in the choice of voters. Through these syntactic and rhetorical characteristics, the slogan influences the orientation of the opinions of the receivers. Politicians use it to ratify their commitments and strengthen their position. This aphorizing construction will serve both to confirm the identity of political parties and to validate the relevance of their programs. In our contribution, we will focus on the study of the discursive strategies inherent in the electoral slogan, used by Moroccan political parties during the electoral campaign conducted …

The challenge was to avoid any risk of contamination that could be fatal both for oneself and for those close to them. The need for information about the situation was accompanied by a pressing need to relieve the malaise that intensified as the virus persisted. As a result, a number of comical content shares about the crisis …

Save One Life: Resistance During The Holocaust, Museum Of History And Holocaust Education
Museum of History and Holocaust Education Exhibits
During the Holocaust, ordinary people took great risks to save themselves, their families, friends, and strangers. People resisted in different ways and for different reasons. How they resisted depended on who they were, where they lived, when they were active, and what resources they had. In this exhibition, you will meet people who courageously crossed borders and boundaries to stand up for their values. Against all odds, they defied Nazi ideology, helped the Allies, and saved many lives.
The Mediation Dance Of Choreography Copyright, Kassandra Sopko
The Mediation Dance Of Choreography Copyright, Kassandra Sopko
Pepperdine Dispute Resolution Law Journal
Despite its societal presence and pervasive benefits for both performers and observers, dance remains a low-paying field with limited career longevity. While dance choreography copyright protection is an option for artists to monetize their work long-term, there are significant barriers due to legal complexities, financial burdens, and lack of awareness regarding copyright protections. The limitations of the copyright landscape burden choreographers who do seek to take advantage of their intellectual property rights, and many of the current suggested solutions for protecting choreography either prove inadequate or involve negative consequences. Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), particularly mediation with BATNA/WATNA incentives, presents a …

Art For All: Art Exhibition Programming For Visitors With Intellectual And Developmental Disabilities, Micaela Shackleford
Seaver College Research And Scholarly Achievement Symposium
As the art world strives to invite more of the general population into a more reachable experience of art, it is imperative to include the disabled population in that invitation. Given the numerous benefits of participation in art-centered activities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs), it is necessary for centers for the arts to create programming that makes their services more accessible and engaging for disabled individuals. While organizations have made efforts to elevate the work of disabled artists, there has been a less consistent movement toward more accessible art museum programs. A key aspect of encouraging engagement …

A Counterfactual Model Of Plagiarism, Garrett Pendergraft Ph.D., Arik Chu
Seaver College Research And Scholarly Achievement Symposium
Abstract: How are we to understand plagiarism? In early 2024, controversy broke out over plagiarism accusations against Harvard’s former president, Claudine Gay. The plagiarism accusations against Gay were the beginning of the politicization of plagiarism claims. During this crisis, plagiarism seemed to entail terrible wrongdoing, no matter the form or extent. Garrett Pendergraft, with research assistance from Arik Chu, provides a counterfactual model of understanding the relationship between plagiarism and ethical wrongdoing: a particular instance of plagiarism is wrong to the extent that removing it from history would make a big difference. The counter-factual model of plagiarism gives an intuitive …

Failure For Avon, Failure For Labour A Waterworks Project And The Shortcomings Of Left-Wing Groups In Pre-Wwi Aberdeen, Garrett Mast
The Thetean: A Student Journal for Scholarly Historical Writing
On September 16th, 1909, the Aberdeen Daily Journal ran a single article that encompassed one and a half pages of the ten- page printing. This article did not discuss any national or international news, but rather a town council meeting for the city of Aberdeen in northern Scotland. This meeting was anything but standard procedure, lasting six and a half hours, a record for the council with at least 27 of the 34 councillors participating in the debate. The debate discussed the rather mundane question of from which river the council should seek approval for pumping new drinking water.1 “The …

A Historical And Legal Analysis Of The Life Of Ellett Robinson, Abigail Hilbig
The Thetean: A Student Journal for Scholarly Historical Writing
To look deeply into the lives of individuals is to begin to understand the intricacies of American life. Ellett Robinson was an African American woman, born at the inception of the twentieth century. Like the century she lived through, Ellett’s life was defined by sociocultural concepts that began long before she came to be. Perceptions of race and the family were being transformed throughout the 1800s and 1900s. Born into this tumultuous time, Ellett was destined to experience the prejudice that existed against African Americans in the South. With slaves having been freed just thirty- six years before Ellett’s birth, …

La Junta Development Of U.S. Opinion And Interaction With Chile, 1970–1981, Carson Cambell
The Thetean: A Student Journal for Scholarly Historical Writing
It was hot outside in the late afternoon of the seventeenth of September when Charles Horman stepped out of his car. Horman was exhausted from a long day of many futile attempts to contact the United States ambassador in Santiago, Chile. Many hours were spent in the endeavor to secure emergency travels back to the U.S., but thus far there was no success to be found. Carrying such important information regarding the successful coup of the Chilean General, Augusto Pinochet, Horman knew he needed to reach the safety of his home country.11 The American journalist entered his house, and mere …

“No Finger In The Dike Could Have Stopped It” The Effects Of The Governmental Failures Surrounding The Teton Dam Flood, Brooke Wilks
The Thetean: A Student Journal for Scholarly Historical Writing
Lyle H. Moon, mayor of Sugar City, Idaho, was a petroleum man. He drove trucks for the greater area of Southeastern Idaho, supplying all their petroleum needs. On June 5, 1976, his route took him within a mile and a half of the Teton Dam. Unbeknownst to him, the dam had sprung several leaks that morning. Two bulldozer crews labored through the morning, trying desperately to plug the holes. While on his route, radio operators called him and told him to drive away from the dam as quickly as possible. Thinking it was a joke, Moon quipped, “Tell me another …

The Possession Of John Toldervy Early Quakerism And The Polarization Of Print Polemic In Cromwellian England, Hyrum Veach
The Thetean: A Student Journal for Scholarly Historical Writing
In the winter of 1655, ex- demoniac, dismissed apprentice, and sometime Quaker John Toldervy published a short memoir entitled The Foot out of the Snare.1 The pamphlet presented itself as a part conversion narrative and part anti- Quaker exposé, and told a startling story of demonic possession. After Toldervy became a Quaker, he told his readers, his mind was corrupted by a “seducing spirit” that convinced him that he was both Christ and the Archangel Michael and drove him to perform many bizarre acts.2 Two months later, after a brief pamphlet war with soon- to- be- disgraced Quaker James Nayler,3 …

Superheroes To Regular Joes The Vietnam War Through The Lens Of American Comic Books And Cartoons, Ella Henricksen
The Thetean: A Student Journal for Scholarly Historical Writing
Historians generally agree that American comic books got their start in 1842 with Rodolphe Töpffer’s The Adventures of Mr. Obadiah Oldbuck,1 but pairing images with text is far from a novel idea—it is practically as old as the invention of writing. By the late 1800s, cartoons and caricatures were staples in papers. Satirical editorial cartoons poked at serious issues, and single- panel gag cartoons showed a humorous picture with a caption. Short comic strips like The Yellow Kid featured regularly appearing characters,2 and in 1933, Famous Funnies (a reprinting of popular humorous news comic strips) finally made the jump to …

Sounds Of Solidarity Pan Africanism, Internationalism, And The Black Experience At Blue Note Records, Nathan Neher
The Thetean: A Student Journal for Scholarly Historical Writing
Blue Note Records is considered one of the most prolific and influential independent American jazz record labels of the mid- twentieth century. The label was founded in 1939 by German- Jewish immigrant Alfred Lion who had fled Nazi Germany. Lion’s longtime friend, Francis Wolff, would later also leave Germany to join Lion and help with photography and other business affairs.1 Originally recording traditional jazz and swing groups, Blue Note transitioned to modern jazz in 1947, eventually helping facilitate the development of hard bop, post- bop, and avant- garde jazz in the mid- twentieth century.2 Lion played a prominent role in …

Pain For Profit The Motivations Of Slave Surgeons In The Eighteenth To Nineteenth Century Caribbean, Gabe Smock
The Thetean: A Student Journal for Scholarly Historical Writing
When late eighteenth- century British surgeon Dr. Alexander Falconbridge ventured belowdecks to check on the hundreds of slaves chained there, he had no illusions about the horrors of the Middle Passage. After all, this was not his first voyage providing medical care for slaves until they disembarked at the infamous markets of colonial Kingston, Jamaica. He took a moment to brace himself, then ventured down into the damp air below only to encounter a sight so awful that it was difficult to put into words when he recounted the experience years later to Parliament. As a consequence of being packed …

Eerie string music, a dark cackle of laughter, and then a sinister voice says, “Who knows what evils lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows.”3 Suddenly, an interruption by the Goodrich Man. He has something to say about Goodrich tires with their lifesaving tread and blow- out protection: “So, play safe, equip your car with Goodrich, safety Silvertown!” The Goodrich- Man is ushered out by organ music as our hero Lamont Cranston, the Shadow, is introduced. He is heralded as a man of wealth and science who devotes his life to righting wrongs, protecting the innocent, and punishing …

Rap And Rhyme An Insider Look On African American Life In Urban America, Rachel Van Katwyk
The Thetean: A Student Journal for Scholarly Historical Writing
Thousands of hands clapped and cheered for the rap artists heralded as the rock stars of the age. Fans packed into Detroit’s Joe Louis Arena, chanting to hear the song they all wanted to scream. F*** the Police. T he rap group, N.W.A., toured America in the summer of 1989 and was contractually obligated to forgo performing that particular song. Scattered among the crowd were police officers ready to take action if the song started playing. N.W.A. called an audible, and DJ Yella projected the song from the speakers for thirty seconds before three sharp shots were heard. At the …
