Fantasy is often a controversial topic within the Christian community, especially when magic is involved and religious ideals are tested. This controversy is explored and questioned through the advocating of the creative, intellectual, and spiritual qualities of Fantasy that are positive and encouraging for a Christian, and by analyzing the presence and value of these qualities within three famous fantasy series, The Chronicles of Narnia, Harry Potter, and His Dark Materials.

Religious pilgrimage is one of the oldest forms of tourism, and following the death of Jesus Christ, Rome became a central hub for visitation from Christ followers. Because of this phenomenon, the subsequent thesis is a study regarding the potential correlation between Catholicism and the Roman tourism industry based on previous published literature, as well as a survey presented at the time of visit to Rome during a trip made in May 2017. The literature includes in-depth analysis of European tourism, marketing, Roman tourism, and Catholicism history and pilgrimages. Survey development was established from the studies made. The role of film music should function as part of the narrative, collaborating with all other filmic aspects such as color editing, scriptwriting, acting, and directing to convey a narrative that engages and affects the audience. Over the course of history, film music has functioned in a variety of ways, from live bands to draw in theatregoers to the contemporary discussion of diegetic and non-diegetic music in film. This thesis sought to explore the purpose of teaching history, to define historical empathy, to discover if historical empathy is being taught in secondary public schools, and to see what methods of instruction teachers utilize. Research was done by conducting interviews of middle school and high school history teachers from different schools in the area. These interviews sought to find out if teachers could come up with their purpose for learning about history, if they could define historical empathy, and what methods they utilized to teach historical empathy. Micheal Williams is a senior history major at Middle Georgia State University. Micheal has been a peer tutor in his department for two years, as well as serving as vice president of the History Student Organization for three semesters. He has presented his research at local, state, and national undergraduate conferences, and enjoys learning and sharing his interest in history with others. His research interests lie in the cultural and sociopolitical histories of Native Americans of the Southeast, both prehistoric and historic. He is currently looking forward to applying to graduate school.
