Don Quixote In Russia In The 18th And 19th Centuries: The Problem Of Perception And Interpretation, Slav N. Gratchev Phd

This paper examines the problem of the perception of Don Quixote in Russia in the XVIII and XIX centuries. The author wants to demonstrate that this process of appropriation has had a long and complex history, and there were specific reasons for this. Don Quixote, the first modern fiction novel, upon arrival in Russia, received minimal attention and was perceived as a very simple and comic book. Then, little by little, it began to gain importance. To meet the partial requirements for a Master of Arts degree in Anthropology from Western Michigan University, the following internship was completed between June 2015 and September 2016. A Computed Tomography (CT) scan analysis was conducted on the Grand Rapids Public Museum’s mummy, Nakhte-Bastet-Iru. This analysis was a collaborative effort by myself and medical and museum professionals. Insight into the mummy’s life and culture was uncovered through examination and analysis of paleoradiological views of her remains. Additional research into the practices of other Midwest museums provided valuable knowledge of current trends in the dissemination and exhibition of mummy CT scan …

The purpose of this project was to evaluate the effectiveness of recurring characters in sermon stories as tools for connecting hearers to Biblical concepts. The report tells the story of a six-week series of sermons which were developed for St. John’s Lutheran Church in Millvale, Pennsylvania. The project aimed to determine if the two contemporary characters, created for this series, would become increasingly beneficial over time as hearers became more familiar with them. The purpose of this study was to explore whether provision of a digital Handbook for Pastoral Blogging would be of value to pastors who had never before blogged. A draft Handbook was provided to thirteen LCMS clergy from across the United States who were serving in parish ministries. They proceeded to begin blogs and maintain them over a period of three months.

How We Care: Provider Perspectives On Services For Vietnamese Elderly In Boston’S Dorchester Neighborhood, Loan Thi Dao

The need for culturally competent care for the elderly is of growing concern for Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities and health providers. In 2012, a preliminary study was conducted to ascertain the perspectives of service providers about the cultural competency of services for elderly Vietnamese Americans in Boston, Massachusetts. The study includes interviews with key informants representing the five major community health centers (CHC) programs in Boston’s Vietnamese enclave in the Dorchester neighborhood. Secondary data collection from field observations and informal communications with other staff and elderly clients also inform the findings. While the study recognizes the value …

The story of the Quaker Ann Austin is a story of resilience and resolve despite unremitting opposition. Mid-seventeenth-century colonial America was a paradox of settlers who braved perilous seas to escape persecution and find religious freedom in the colonies. Yet some of those same groups ironically became inhospitable, even hostile, to other immigrants seeking similar freedom to practice and promote their religious beliefs.
