Hispanic Americans In The North American Division, Ricardo Norton

180 Symposium Publications

The author reports descriptive data gathered through surveys collected by mail and when speaking to Hispanic groups around North America. In addition, personal interviews with those who have left the church provided additional data and insights. Hispanic Americans face a challenge with second and third generation Hispanic Americans due to the changes that take place as they assimilate into their new culture while their churches continue to attract new immigrants. Hispanic churches in North America tend to retain immigrants and lose their second and third generation young people. Hans Holbein The Younger – The Interweaving Of His Life And Works With The Events Of The Protestant Reformation, Jean Pulsifer Jan 2012

Hans Holbein The Younger – The Interweaving Of His Life And Works With The Events Of The Protestant Reformation, Jean Pulsifer

Academic Symposium of Undergraduate Scholarship

The works of Hans Holbein, probably more than those of any other Renaissance artist, were directly affected by the events of the Protestant Reformation. During the High Renaissance in Italy around the beginning of the sixteenth century, a time of social, political, and religious unrest was also brewing. Reformers within the Catholic Church felt the church was becoming very distorted and worldly. The reformers were concerned with their own sins and salvation, not the pleasures of the world. Martin Luther (1483-1546), the first Protestant reformer, travelled to Rome in 1510. He was also very disappointed to see the worldliness of …

Christian Adventism Vs. Cultural Adventism: A First Generation Adventist’S Attempt To Raise Her Fourth Generation Children, J. Renee Miranda Jan 2012

Christian Adventism Vs. Cultural Adventism: A First Generation Adventist’S Attempt To Raise Her Fourth Generation Children, J. Renee Miranda

180 Symposium Publications

Even the best Christian programming, education, and church activities are no substitute for an individual having a saving encounter with Christ, then being discipled and mentored by authentic Christian parents and authentic Christian church leaders. These parents and leaders must show repentance when wrong, process through the struggles of the Christian journey with young people (where appropriate), and love them unconditionally as they express their intrinsic joy in their relationship with Christ and impart truth and precepts to their children. This chapter will assemble information from several books, internet research, and individual interviews in order to establish what is generally …

Detection And Classification Of Dif Types Using Parametric And Nonparametric Methods: A Comparison Of The Irt-Likelihood Ratio Test, Crossing-Sibtest, And Logistic Regression Procedures, Gabriel E. Lopez Jan 2012

Detection And Classification Of Dif Types Using Parametric And Nonparametric Methods: A Comparison Of The Irt-Likelihood Ratio Test, Crossing-Sibtest, And Logistic Regression Procedures, Gabriel E. Lopez

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

The purpose of this investigation was to compare the efficacy of three methods for detecting differential item functioning (DIF). The performance of the crossing simultaneous item bias test (CSIBTEST), the item response theory likelihood ratio test (IRT-LR), and logistic regression (LOGREG) was examined across a range of experimental conditions including different test lengths, sample sizes, DIF and differential test functioning (DTF) magnitudes, and mean differences in the underlying trait distributions of comparison groups, herein referred to as the reference and focal groups. In addition, each procedure was implemented using both an all-other anchor approach, in which the IRT-LR baseline model, …
