The Evolution Of Anatomical Art: The Artists And Methods That Illustrated The Human Body, Amanda Spaunhorst
The Evolution Of Anatomical Art: The Artists And Methods That Illustrated The Human Body, Amanda Spaunhorst
Student Scholarship
The evolution of anatomical texts and illustrations during the bridge between the 15th and 16th centuries was greatly influenced by the research of Leonardo da Vinci. Although primarily a painter, sculptor, and illustrator da Vinci also spent his time studying the scientific mystery that was the human body. Through his human dissections of cadavers and close observances of physiological movements da Vinci contributed significant and innovative information to the new and growing field of anatomy. His goal was not only to illustrate the accurate structure of the bone and muscles but to understand how emotion and cognitive thought could affect …
Satire And Dissent: A Theoretical Overview, Amber Day
Satire And Dissent: A Theoretical Overview, Amber Day
English and Cultural Studies Journal Articles
In an age when Jon Stewart tops lists of most-trusted newscasters and Michael Moore becomes a focus of political campaign analysis, the satiric register has attained renewed and urgent prominence in political discourse. Day focuses on three central contemporary forms: the parodic news show, the satiric documentary, and ironic activism. She highlights their shared objective of circumventing the standard conduits of political information and the highly stage-managed nature of current political discourse. In so doing, she argues, they provide fans with a sense of community and purpose notably lacking from organized politics in the twenty-first century.

L’Écriture Migrante Comme Pratique Signifiante: L’Exemple De L’Hétérolinguisme Et De L’Écriture Fragmentaire Chez Abla Farhoud Et Ying Chen, Simona Pruteanu

Frenchifying The Frontier: Transnational Federalism In The Early West, Keri Holt
Frenchifying The Frontier: Transnational Federalism In The Early West, Keri Holt
English Faculty Publications
The antebellum West was a hotbed of literary activism. Western presses published more than one hundred local newspapers and literary magazines from the late 1820s through the 1850s. Cities such as Vidalia, Lexington, Marietta, New Orleans, and Cincinnati were thriving literary centers, boasting numerous bookshops, libraries, theaters, and literary societies, including the Semi-Colon and Buckeye clubs of Cincinnati, where members exhibited their western pride by discussing the work of local authors while drinking beverages from buckeye bowls.1 The “West” at this time was located much closer east and south than the West we know today. It encompassed, roughly, the …
Mary Is The Model Of Christian Discipleship, Sr. Jolly Joseph
Mary Is The Model Of Christian Discipleship, Sr. Jolly Joseph
Theology Graduate Theses
When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother” (Jn 19:26-27). At the foot of the cross, Mary, the mother of Jesus is given as mother to every single human being. Mary is the mother of all mankind. The New Testament traces Mary as a woman of limitless faith, obedience and humility who followed Jesus in a perfect way. Her heart was always centered on Jesus. She is the humble handmaid of God who surrendered herself completely into the …
