Huey Long And Occupy Wall Street: Populist Protest In Eras Of Economic Turmoil, Kevin Fiztgerald

African & African American Studies Senior Theses

Under the banner, "We are the 99%." Occupy has, for the last 7 months, attempted to exemplify the method and fervor of the populist movements of the Middle East that gave rise to 2011's "Arab Spring." With hopes that a more equitable economy might be achieved, occupy has set down encampments across the U.S. protesting an exploitive economy that has resulted in monetary inflation, a housing crisis, over a trillion dollars in student debt, and extensive job loss, all with limited government intervention.

Ceci N'Est Pas Un David, Andrea Roberts May 2012

Ceci N'Est Pas Un David, Andrea Roberts

Student Scholarship

It is a peculiar fact that almost every piece of artwork ever created has attached to it a piece of text.' Originally, at least, most works are given a title for the purpose of referring to what it is. Later, this body of text begins to grow as critical work is written and attached to it by the use of the title. A consequence of this is that text connected to a piece of artwork becomes significant to the piece itself and can even be reinterpreted and critiqued as though it were part of the original work. For example, there …

Sex And The City: A Promotion Of Modern American Feminism, Cameron Michael Tufino

Theses & Dissertations

The television series Sex and the City (SATC), has left a significant impact on American society. The show displays this revelation: American women today have many established cultures of equal worth in male dominated discourses. This thesis explains how the shows narrative represents and expands feminist ideology in America. By modernizing feminist discourses, SATC challenges televisual female representation on subject matters including motherhood, sexuality, marriage, gender identity, and family. Investigating its four protagonists - Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, and Samantha - demonstrates how the narrative contributed to the social movement of feminism. Furthermore, with analyzing its construction and display since the …

Scope and Method of Study: The purpose of this project was to increase the motivation of believers to pursue Christian growth by teaching them about the glory of Christ. (2) Will teaching this subject cause a change in attitude in participants toward Christian growth? To explore these questions, a fivesession teaching seminar was developed and presented. It utilized a pre-survey/ post-survey method to gather data concerning changes in participants' …
