"Participation In God" - Chapter From Relational Theology, Charles J. Conniry
"Participation In God" - Chapter From Relational Theology, Charles J. Conniry
Faculty Publications - Portland Seminary
A book on relational theology requires at least a brief reflection on the concept of “participation in God.” Relationality begins and ends with God. God exists in relationship – the Trinity. Through the act of creation, God extended relationality to all God made. And in the coming age, redeemed humanity will share in Christ’s glory – a glory that includes the creation “liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God” (see Rom 8:17-21).
There are at least two ways to conceive of relational participation in God. Stated in theological shorthand, they …

Down And Out In Ada County: Coping With The Great Recession 2008-2012, Todd Shallat (Editor), Larry Burke (Editor), Bethann Stewart (Editor)
Faculty & Staff Authored Books
Surging unemployment and the crash of property values have hit Boise-Meridian especially hard. In an economy built mostly on housing construction, in cities where the value of housing has fallen more than 40 percent, the damage is long term. Down and Out in Ada County examines the dislocation with comparisons to past recessions and an emphasis on people struggling to cope

Celestial Divination And Arabic Science In Twelfth-Century England: The History Of Gerbert Of Aurillac’S Talking Head, Elly Truitt
Celestial Divination And Arabic Science In Twelfth-Century England: The History Of Gerbert Of Aurillac’S Talking Head, Elly Truitt
History Faculty Research and Scholarship
The legend of Gerbert of Aurillac’s oracular head reveals significant information about contemporary medieval attitudes toward foreign knowledge from outside of the Latin Christian West, and in particular about the quadrivium, astral science, and celestial divination. In particular, William of Malmesbury’s account—the most well-known in the medieval period—demonstrates the extent to which scientific knowledge from the Arabic tradition had penetrated the intellectual climate of England in the early twelfth century.

ABOUT THE TEST REPORT AND USE OF THE DATA The test data contained in this report are a tabulation of the results of a series of tests. Due to the restricted format of these pages, only a limited amount of data and not all of the tractor specifications are included. The full OECD report contains usually about 30 pages of data and specifications. Justice In Compensation: A Defense, Jeffrey Moriarty
Justice In Compensation: A Defense, Jeffrey Moriarty

Business ethicists have written much about ethical issues in employment. Except for a handful of articles on the very high pay of chief executive officers and the very low pay of workers in overseas sweatshops, however, little has been written about the ethics of compensation. This is prima facie strange. Workers care about their pay, and they think about it in normative terms. This article's purpose is to consider whether business ethicists' neglect of the normative aspects of compensation is justified. I examine several possible justifications for neglecting compensation and show that they fail. What remains is a case for …

Teaching Disciples To Pray: Improving The Understanding And Practice Of Prayer At Calvary Baptist Church Of Floyd, Virginia, Randy Thomas Mcdaniel
Teaching Disciples To Pray: Improving The Understanding And Practice Of Prayer At Calvary Baptist Church Of Floyd, Virginia, Randy Thomas Mcdaniel
Doctor of Ministry Projects
This project was undergirded by a theory that intentionality and discipline in prayer will yield valuable benefits. Growing more knowledgeable in prayer practice as well as learning to faithfully set aside time for prayer were two components of specific importance in this project. Such components can be engaged by the individual in private study. However, the position of this ministry experiment is that the greatest gains regarding knowledge and practice with prayer are to be found from intentional study with the additional element of a dialogical small group experience.
The Decagonal Tomb Tower At Maragha And Its Architectural Context: Lines Of Mathematical Thought, Carol Bier
The Decagonal Tomb Tower At Maragha And Its Architectural Context: Lines Of Mathematical Thought, Carol Bier
Textile Research Works
Of several brick tomb towers constructed at Maragha in western Iran before the Mongol conquests, one in particular, Gonbad-e Qabud (593 H. / 1196-97 C.E.), has generated significant recent attention for its unique patterns with pentagons and decagons. Gonbad-e Qabud is also unusual in having a decagonal plan. While both plan and decoration distinguish it from earlier and later towers at Maragha and elsewhere on the Iranian plateau, the ornamental patterns follow a long line of experimentation with geometric expressions that grace many pre-Mongol buildings in Iran. This article examines in particular the overlapping polygons and radial symmetries of the …
