UConn Library Presentations
WorldCat Local (WCL) is examined specifically in relation to music-related searching. Updates regarding changes made to WCL since the Music OCLC User Group (MOUG) 2009/10 report are discussed and compared to the current searching capabilities of WCL. Other issues and observations not discussed in the MOUG report are also examined. This presentation was presented at the 2011 Music Library Association conference during the Music OCLC User Group (MOUG) meetings.

On February 08, 2011, Erica Terrill interviewed Shawon Gullette, owner of the Infinitee Salon and Day Spa and a Top Ten Women award recipient, for a class project dealing with oral histories and capturing the history of the Miami Valley. During the interview Shawon discusses her involvement with the American Cancer Society, providing wigs to women with hair loss, and establishing her Hope for Hair foundation.

Occam's Beard: Belief, Disbelief, And Contested Meanings In American Ufology, William J. Dewan

The purpose of this dissertation is to critically examine the emergence, maintenance, evolution, and dissemination of belief traditions in New Mexico and the United States that are most commonly associated with the UFO phenomenon. This critical analysis incorporates theoretical frameworks from a multitude of interrelated disciplines, including folklore, history, anthropology, popular culture studies, sociology, and psychology. The primary goal of this dissertation involves the attempt to formulate a typology of UFO accounts in American culture, and how said accounts are interpreted, communicated, and publicly evaluated. Alliance could include a "Heartbeat Chair" funded with an endowment to ensure its future. Saunders would teach a class for the first semester on the history and philosophy of Heartbeat and compile the information into a book for future endeavors.

Conventional chamber music was jolted out of its safe haven when this Grammy-nominated ensemble brought its eclectic style to the f ield. To illustrate Imani’s commitment to extending the European canon, the group invited Simon Shaheen, the acclaimed Palestinian óud and violin artist, to compose Zafir (“a gentle breath”).

Together they will play Bach’s Sonata in G minor for viola da gamba and keyboard; Edvard Grieg’s Sonata in A minor, op. 36, for cello and piano; plus Justin Dello Joio’s Due per Due, composed for Mr. Brey, which will have its regional premiere.

On February 5, 2011 Elise Kelly interviewed Sister Maria Francine Stacy, director of Dayton’s Catholic Hispanic Ministry, for a class project dealing with oral histories and capturing the history of the Miami Valley. During the interview Sister Maria discussed being the daughter of an immigrant, joining the Sisters of Notre Dame, and her work with the Hispanic community in Ohio.
