Introduction

When the DIA began implementing its renovation, restoration, and expansion project in 2001, its objective was to make essential upgrades to the Museum’s aging facility, improve traffic flow and way-finding patterns and increase gallery space. The enormous task of the building project presented the unprecedented opportunity for the Museum to reshape the visitor experience, not only through an upgraded building and new amenities, but also by rethinking how to present its world-class collection to the public.

More than 5,000 works of art have been reinstalled in some 150,000 square feet of gallery space in a way that allows visitors …

The manuscripts contained in this digital proceedings CD-ROM have been edited by formatting in MSWord to comply with the TSA 11th Biennial Symposium 2008: Digital Print Manuscript Guidelines while maintaining the substance of each presentation as submitted. Each paper was edited to a standard visual style of presentation. In very few cases manuscripts were edited for clarity and understanding as a written document for English readers. The Quran is the principal source of reference in Islam. Some people outside the Muslim world relate the religion to violence and value Islam according to what some of its fellows, the Muslims, have done in the name of Islam. The principle of judgement thus has unfortunately drifted away from its true source and meaning. The very basic concept of peace and humanity as stated in the Quran seems to have no place in reality at all. This article aims at studying and analyzing the status and development of the Shi?ite Muslim minority in Thailand from the 16th century to the present day. The Shi?ite Muslims in Thailand developed and are informally separated into two groups. The original ones call themselves Chao Sen, which means Imam Hussein?s followers, and are descended from Indo-Iranian Shi?ite Muslim ancestors who came from Iran and the Shi?ite States of India during the early 16th century. It has become increasingly vital to secure some purchase on effecting the requisite changes in the Western Worldview to reintegrate humanity with the natural world. Only two possibilities exist for this reintegration: an affirmation of the evolutionary process and the development of human predispositions that intimately relate individuals to other lives. Such reintegration becomes possible only when humanity re-realizes its animality. This paper argues that these changes are vital to defining peaceful coexistence with not only animals and their environs, but within the human realm as well. The Anatomy Of Thai Face, Larry Scott Persons

This article, based upon qualitative ethnographic research from the perspective of social anthropology, clarifies the meanings of five abstract social constructs in Thai society: nata, kiat, saksi, chuesiang, and barami. The author proposes that these five words form the ?€?anatomy?€ of Thai ?€?face.?€ The central argument is that although these words adhere together in the minds of Thai people, data from field research reveal that they are distinct, though not mutually exclusive, in meaning. The author offers a visual model that demonstrates the dynamic relationship shared by these five constructs.

The Concept of the ?Perfectly Virtuous Woman?: Constructed Identity of Khmer Women for the Nation aims to explore Khmer women?s constructed identity as it has changed throughout Khmer history. The concept of the ?Perfectly Virtuous Woman? (RsI RKb; lkçN_) refers to the practices of women: proper manners, roles according to their social status as the perfectly virtuous daughter, wife and mother, and how to live free of sexual denigration. The concept does not have a single or fixed meaning.
