Yes, the Chronicler was a spin doctor—but a necessary one. He used the David story to address the needs of his postexilic community who questioned the value of God’s old promises to David in this new time of Persian domination, without a king, worshiping in a temple that was the mere shadow of Solomon’s glorious edifice.

The David story is the longest and most complete biblical treatment of any one human life. This allows the story to speak to many stages of the faith journey. The story is not fully present in the pericopes, but the preacher can choose to use this material in a sermon series to address the spiritual and moral contexts of our age.

Authenticity, Authoriality, And The Nature Of Electronic Texts: Don Quijote In The Age Of Digital Reproduction, Matthew D. Stroud
Modern Languages and Literatures Faculty Research
In "The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction," Walter Benjamin provided thought-provoking insights into the way that lithography, photography, and cinema changed the nature of art and our perceptions of it. Among other considerations, he noted that the efficient mass reproduction of works of art affected notions of authenticity, the author, and the response of the viewer or reader. In many ways, the advent of the Internet causes us to review his arguments and expand on them in light of this new, digitized, decentralized, and diffuse method of reproducing works of art, including literature. Holponiyochi: Contemporary Native American Sculpture, Wright State University Art Galleries
Exhibition and Program Catalogs
Nine artists participating in this exhibition share a concern with how practices of visual representation work to construct individual and collective identity. They examine and then reformulate familiar codes of visual culture, turning established conventions of visual representation against themselves. In highly sophisticated and nuanced critical commentary, they explore how both individual and group identities are shaped in and by one's cultural environment. At the same time, they recognize that limiting understanding can be an equally powerful influence in the shaping of one's sense of self and community.
