IAA Reports—Monograph Series of the Israel Antiquities Authority

This volume presents the results of the 1993 excavations in two towers at the impressive medieval ‘Al-Subayba (Nimrod) fortress in the Golan Heights, on the southern slopes of Mt. Hermon. It was built by the Ayyubids in the 13th century with the purpose of guarding a major access route to Damascus against armies coming from the west. It was later rebuilt as a palace and mosque by the Mamluks, and finally destroyed by an earthquake. The excavations cleared Tower 11 to facilitate the exit route to the postern gate. The history and building technology of the fortress are discussed.

Author offers reflections and insights into a middle school after-school literacy pilot program. The author argues that, by practicing embodied, metaphoric ethnography, educators can revise their roles in classroom social systems and so pursue the goals of critical pedagogy. This work has developed from research on the emotional and embodied aspects of writing instruction, and the work developed out of a book she was writing on grassroots literate practices, titled Echoes Half Heard: Community Activists, Collective Movements.

Political Propriety And Feminine Property: Women In The Eighteenth-Century Text Trades, Lisa Maruca

English Faculty Research Publications

Maruca shows that the author as an accountable agent emerged in England as an entity intrinsically connected to printers, publishers and other legally responsible agents within the trade. She particularly focuses on women in the print trades because their jobs led to the properly feminized eighteenth-century novel. It was the regulations governing the print trade that produced a form of morally authoritative discourse best represented by the woman author.

The Unreliable Narrator Of Job, James W. Watts

Religion - All Scholarship

This essay by James W. Watts provides analysis on the book of Job, questioning previous interpretations of its narrative. Watts also compares the book of Job's narrative style to that of modern and historical authors. Watts argues that the author of the book of Job employed an unreliable narrator in the form of an omniscient charatcer, which attacked literative conventions of the time, but ultimately proved difficult for readers to understand.

Faces Of The Holocaust: A Curriculum Guide For Teachers, Challon Roberts, Thomas S. Martin

Dayton Holocaust Resource Center Publications

"Faces ofthe Holocaust" is a unique series of fifteen videotapes created expressly as a classroom resource and curriculum supplement. I began to record these one-of-a-kind stories in 1985 with Wright State University Television Center Initially, there were nine interviews over a three year period, which included painstaking editing. The second part of the series was filmed in 1995, the fiftieth year of liberation, with interviews of five more liberators and one more survivor. The series was directed by K. Roland Knight of Wright State University Television Center. Dr. Thomas Martin and Challon Roberts assisted me in the editing process.
