I translated a Truman's Capote short story: "A Diamond Guitar". I chose this short story because I found it very interesting when I read it. Besides it was not translated into Spanish yet. And, I also analyzed the meaning of the most important symbols that appear in the short story. I also analyzed some problems that I had with the translation.

This collection consists of oral histories recorded by Eugenia Mills Fulcher from 1997-1998. The oral histories were used in Mills’ doctoral thesis, “Dreams Do Come True: How Rural One- and Two-Room Schools Influenced the Lives of African Americans in Burke County, Georgia, 1930- 1955,” defended in 1999 at Georgia Southern University. Materials include recordings on cassette tape and transcripts.

The collection consists of the professional and personal papers of Georgia Southern Professor Emeritus, George H. Shriver. Materials span from 1958 to 2009 and include correspondence, teaching materials, published articles, and manuscripts related to religion in the American South. Box 9 consists of an accrual of additional papers from Wake Forest University, which has been kept separate from the original collection. Additional materials related to Shriver’s coaching career for Georgia Southern’s Lady Eagles Tennis team are also included.

This collection consists of materials created and collected by Mary Sue Deloach Smith as part of her 1999 dissertation, What did it mean to be a boarding teacher in a rural Bulloch County community in the 1930s and 1940s. Materials include In-depth interviews with fourteen people who worked as boarding teachers in Bulloch County, 1930-1940s, and transcription. Additional materials include three commissary account books for John H. Brannen farm, six miles west of Statesboro from 1929-1950s.

The most distinctive feature of the theory and practice of community of philosophical inquiry, which at first glance appears contradictory, is how it promotes both communal, intersubjective meaning and thinking for oneself. Typically we think of the two as, if not opposed, then not particularly related. Thinking for oneself is usually associated with 18th century Western Enlightenment - the automatic problematization of collectively held beliefs - skepticism, and individualism. Community is usually associated with the affirmation of collectively held beliefs and assumptions, and with the necessary sacrifice of individual opinion for a greater good.
