Variación Fonológica Y Estilística En El Español De Puerto Rico, Antonio Medina-Rivera

Se examina la correlacion que existe entre dos variables fonologicas y tres variables estilisticas en el espanol de Puerto Rico. Las variables estilisticas que se tomaron en consideracion son la situacion (entrevista individual, conversacion en grupo y una presentacion oral), el discurso y la relacion que existe entre hablante e interlocutor. Se concentra en el habla de 20 jovenes adultos que residen en Caguas, Puerto Rico. Las variables fonologicas que se seleccionaron para este estudio son la vibrante multiple (rr) y la vibrante simple (r) en posicion de final de silaba. Los resultados se sometieron al programa estadistico VARBRUL y …

Muhlenberg County Heritage

“The Muhlenberg County [Kentucky] Heritage” was published four times a year by the Muhlenberg County Genealogical Society in Greenville, Kentucky, from 1978 to 2001. The cover title sometimes appears as “The Heritage.” The publication’s purpose was to support the society and to publish information about the genealogy, culture, and history of Muhlenberg County. A separate annual index was printed each year for volumes 1-14. Afterwards, each issue was indexed separately. Generally, the index is to surnames only.

In November 1998 biologists announced that they had discovered a way to isolate and preserve human stem cells. Since stem cells are capable of developing into any kind of human tissue or organ, this was a great scientific coup. Researchers envision using the cells to replace damaged organs and to restore tissue destroyed by, for example, Parkinson's disease, diabetes, or even Alzheimer's. But, since stem cells are taken from aborted embryonic and fetal tissue or "leftover" in vitro embryos, their use raises large ethical issues. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) recently decided to fund research employing, not stem cells, …

Piano pedagogues disagree about whether piano technique should be developed through practicing exercises or by isolating a musical passage which requires that a select technical motion be employed. Exercises are purely mechanical note patterns of varying length, usually only a few measures long. They are divorced from any musical content, and are devoted to only one technical skill. Like exercises, etudes usually concentrate upon developing one technical skill. However, etudes are fully developed pieces of some length which allow the player to build skill within a musical context. But before telling about this work, I shall describe the structure of the project, which is collaborative in its conception and design. To ensure high quality and productivity, we have concentrated textual editing at the University of Nebraska. My colleague in the English Department, Charles Mignon, has been with the project from its beginning, and Fred Link, former chair of the English Department and director of University of Nebraska Press, joined the project shortly before he retired and has continued with it as a professor emeritus. Documentary Editing: Journal of the Association for Documentary Editing (1979–2011)

On June 19, 1822, a court composed of two magistrates and five freeholders convened in Charleston, South Carolina. The discovery of a planned slave revolt led by Denmark Vesey, a free black carpenter, had alarmed the city just days earlier. Before the summer was out, Vesey and thirty-four enslaved men were hanged and about the same number sentenced to be transported outside the United States. Lionel H.
