The Huntsville Literary Association was founded in 1967 to provide a community for writers, readers, and artists through workshops, readings, and educational programs. One of their key contributions is the literary magazine titled POEM which showcases original writings from both established and emerging writers. This issue highlights the work of Stephen Lang and is dedicated to the benefactor, sustaining, and patron members of the Huntsville Literary Association.

ชเตฟาน สไวท์ (Stefan Zweig) เป็นนักเขียนชาวออสเตรียที่มีชื่อเสียงมากในครึ่งแรกของ ศตวรรษที่ ๒๐ โดยเฉพาะในช่วงระหว่างสงครามโลกครั้งที่ ๑ และ ๒ งานเขียนของเขาส่วนใหญ่เป็นเรื่องชีว ประวัติบุคคลสําคัญในประวัติศาสตร์ เช่น ชีวิตของมาเรีย อังตัวเนตต์ มาเรีย สจ๊วต รวมทั้งนวนิยายและ เรื่องสั้นต่าง ๆ มากมาย ผลงานของเขาได้มีผู้นำไปทำเป็นบทภาพยนตร์และแปลเป็นภาษาต่าง ๆ อย่างแพร่หลาย เป็นผลงานที่มีลักษณะเด่น ตัวละครมีลักษณะนิสัยแปลก มีการดำเนินเรื่องที่กระชับ และมีเนื้อหาตื่นเต้นเร้าใจชวนให้คนอ่านติดตามอ่านอย่างไม่วางมือ สไวก์ได้สอดแทรกจิตวิเคราะห์ไว้ในงานเขียนของเขาด้วย น่าเสียดายที่ปัจจุบันไม่ค่อยมีใครสนใจงานเขียนของเขา ผู้เขียนจึงใคร่จะแนะนำนักเขียนผู้นี้ เพื่อเป็นการรื้อฟื้นอดีตอันรุ่งเรืองให้กลับเข้ามาสู่ความทรจำอีกครั้งหนึ่ง

The origin of the anonymous poem entitled Don Leon, written in the 1830s but known to us only in an edition of 1866, is one of the mysteries of English literary history. The title page describes the work as "A Poem by Lord Byron, Author of Childe Harold, Don Juan, &c., &c. and Forming Part of the Private Journal of His Lordship, Supposed to Have Been Entirely Destroyed by Thos. Department of Geography: Dissertations, Theses, and Student Research

The purpose of this research is to trace the mainstream of German and related geopolitical philosophy and the various aspects that influenced the philosophy from 1800 to 1945. Two themes evolved: Political Geography and Nationalism. Along with economic considerations, these themes were fused into Geopolitik by Karl Haushofer and his followers in Germany following the end of World War I.

The goal of this work is to trace Geopolitik to discover the significance of its implications, what was behind it, and what were its real objectives. Geopolitik is a German-developed "science'' based on doctrines and practices with its origins in …

ภาคแสดงในประโยคภาษาไทยอาจจะวิเคราะห์โดยอาศัยโครงสร้างและความหมายได้อีกวิธีหนึ่ง ซึ่งทำให้เห็นภาคแสดง 4 ประเภทด้วยกัน คือ ภาคแสดงที่เป็นนาม เป็นคุณศัพท์ เป็นกริยา และเป็นประโยค ภาคแสดงที่เป็นกริยายังอาจวิเคราะห์ออกได้เป็นอีก ๓ ประเภท คือ ภาคแสดงที่เป็นกริยาคำเดียว ที่เป็นกริยาหลายคำติดต่อกัน และที่เป็นกริยา คำซ้อนหน้าที่ กริยา การวิเคราะห์แบบนี้จะทำให้เข้าใจ โครงสร้างของภาคแสดงในภาษาไทยอีกแง่มุมหนึ่ง

เมื่อต้นทศวรรษที่แล้วการศึกษาภาษาในเชิงสังคมวิทยาได้เจริญก้าวหน้าไปมาก ทำให้มีผู้ศึกษาลักษณะการแปรเปลี่ยนของภาษาโดยมีองค์ประกอบทางสังคมเป็นตัวแปร องค์ประกอบที่สำคัญอันหนึ่งคือ เพศของผู้ใช้ภาษา กอร์ปทั้งเมื่อต้นทศวรรษที่แล้ว ขบวนการเรียกร้องสิทธิของสตรีได้ขยายวงออกไปอย่าง แพร่หลาย จึงเป็นเหตุให้ นักภาษาศาสตร์สตรีหลายคนสนใจศึกษาค้นคว้าการใช้ภาษาของผู้หญิงว่ามีลักษณะ อย่างไรและลักษณะนั้น ๆ จะเป็นเครื่องบั่นทอน นสิทธิเสรีภาพของสตรีทั้งทางปฏิบัติและทางความคิดหรือไม่ เพียงใด งานค้นคว้าในเรื่องภาษาของผู้หญิงตามแนวภาษาศาสตร์สังคมที่รู้จักกันแพร่หลายคืองานของโรบิน เลคอฟ แต่เนื่องจากงานของเลคอฟยังขาดการสนับสนุนทางสถิติที่จะมายืนยันสมมติฐาน "ภาษาผู้หญิง" จึงมีนักภาษาศาสตร์สตรี ๒ คน คือ เฟ ครอสบี และ ลินดา ในควิสต์ ศึกษา "ภาษาผู้หญิง" โดยใช้สมมติ- ฐานของเลคอฟ การศึกษาประกอบด้วยงานวิจัยการใช้ภาษาของหญิงและชาย ๓ เรื่องด้วยกัน งานวิจัยแรก ศึกษาการสนทนาของนิสิตปริญญาตรีชาย-หญิง งานวิจัยที่สอง ใช้การสนทนาของผู้ต้องการข่าวสารจากหน่วย ประชาสัมพันธ์ซึ่งผู้ถามและประชาสัมพันธ์เป็นชายและหญิง งานชิ้นที่สามศึกษาการสนทนาของผู้ไปติดต่อ สถานีตำรวจชานเมืองกับเจ้าหน้าที่ตำรวจ การวิจัยใช้วิธีการวิจัยทางสังคมศาสตร์ ผลปรากฏว่า การค้นพบที่ ได้รับมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ และสนับสนุนสมมติฐานของเลคอฟที่ว่าผู้หญิงใช้ "ภาษาผู้หญิง" มากกว่าผู้ชาย

คำและสำนวนภาษาอังกฤษที่ใช้กันอยู่ทุกวันนี้มีไม่น้อยที่มีที่มาจากเทพปกรณัม โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งเทพปกรณัม กรีกและโรมัน การศึกษาที่มาของคำและสำนวนเหล่านั้นจะช่วยให้เข้าใจความหมายของคำและสำนวนนั้น ๆ ได้แจ่มชัด และทำให้สามารถนำคำและสำนวนเหล่านั้นไปใช้อย่างถูกต้องกับกาลเทศะ หมายที่ต้องการด้วย

งานเขียนที่แสดงออกซึ่งความคิดของวอลแตร์ได้ดีที่สุด และล้ำหน้างานเขียนชนิดอื่น ๆ ของเขา คืองานเขียนในรูปของ นิทาน รูปแบบง่าย ๆ ของนิทาน เปิดโอกาสให้วอลแตร์ได้แสดงโลกทัศน์ และชีวทัศน์ด้วยเสรีภาพอย่างเต็มที่ โดยเฉพาะการโจมตีปัจเจกบุคคลและสถาบันในสังคมช่วงก่อนการปฏิวัติใหญ่ ฝรั่งเศส ขณะเดียวกันก็ได้ให้ข้อเสนอเชิงสร้างสรรค์สำหรับสิ่งที่เขาโจมตีไว้ด้วย นิทานของวอลแตร์จึงมิใช่ งานที่มีจุดมุ่งทางสุนทรียศาสตร์ หากแต่เป็นงานที่กระตุ้นความคิดของผู้อ่านให้รู้จักมองสังคมอย่างวิพากษ์
