For many years, an adult Historical Background society has been involved in treating Juvenile delinquency problems. This fact is reflected in the Poor Laws of Elizabethan England, in the Indenture and Settlement Laws which date back to 1601, and the hit-or-miss idealism of private charities.

In the United States, we find it in the transplanting of the Indenture and Settlement Laws and the Almshouse In the Early English Colonies on the main land of North America. This study proposes to analyze the qualities of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's speeches as determined through a general survey of his speeches and a particular study of those of 1941.

As President Roosevelt is considered an effective speaker of the day, a consideration of those qualities of composition, delivery and audience reaction which have contributed to the effectiveness of his speeches should have value. The year 1941 was selected because it was decisive year in the destiny of our country and as such affected his speeches.

"Luther brought back the pure doctrine of justification; that, above all, made him the Reformer of the Church." By carrying out the implications of this Scriptural truth in its relation to the rest of Roman theology Luther once and for all broke the power of the Roman papacy. Other reformers had failed and Luther succeeded in his Reformation because he struck at the root of the problem and undermined the foundations upon which Rome's whole diabolical system of theology rested. Luther succeeded because he destroyed Rome's sacerdotalism and sacramentalism.

This paper aims to show that in all Henry VIII's dealings with the Protestant League he was motivated entirely by aims of Tudor policy. His object was to extend the scope of absolutism within his own realm, and also to preserve his dynasty in security on the throne of England, and in the end, to preserve for himself all the power and privilege which he discovered he controlled after a long reign of pursuing the first two objects.
