A Study Of The Influence Of A Church School Upon Its Youth, Esther Jane Deweerd

Masters Theses

First Paragraph:

There is a growing need for more effective religious training for youth today. Educators recognize this and articles appearing in our magazine and papers sense it too. Studies and research into what the young people themselves feel also indicates that they recognize this lack in their training. The problem is receiving much thought and study by educators, church workers, and legislators alike, and valuable suggestions appear in these same periodicals, showing us ways of meeting this need. A few examples will show us what they are saying.

The Purpose and Procedure of this Study

Introduction

American history has long held a well-established place in the curriculum of the senior high schools of the United States. In many schools every pupil is required to take American history in order to be eligible to graduate from high school. If American history is not included as a specific subject offered in the curriculum of a senior high school, then one may expect to find it incorporated into some other part of the curriculum, perhaps into a general social studies course.
