There is no published literature concerning the history of the role of the corporate wife. In fact, what literature there is on the subject ignores the development of the role. The reasons for this may lie in the way knowledge is dealt with in the three disciplines which might be expected to be concerned with the subject: business, history and sociology.

The position of Robert Dudley as one of the most influential courtiers and statesmen during the reign of Elizabeth I originated with the affection that queen held for him. For this reason, historians have often discounted his role in Elizabethan politics and patronage. His contemporaries, however, recognized his unique status and frequently wrote him, requesting his assistance to obtain ecclesiastical and secular offices, assistance in purchasing land, and other favors. He responded successfully to many requests, and his influence with Elizabeth made him one of the most powerful nobles in England. This thesis explores the many requests addressed to Robert …

This thesis analyzes the reasons for the failure of the Suvla Bay landings of August 1915 during the Gallipoli Campaign of the Great War. These included an inefficient chain of command, and a lack of initiative amongst subordinate generals that allowed the waste of precious time. Over-cautiousness hampered the operations that followed the landings. This characterized the 9th Army Corps from its aging commander, General Stopford, down through to many of its brigadiers, and the innate gentility of General Hamilton, Commander-in-Chief of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, made it difficult for him to assert himself. Daniel Serra-Badué is an artist of uncompromising vision who dwells upon memory as if it were tangible. "All that we see or seem - Is but a dream within a dream," wrote Edgar Allan Poe , and Serra-Badué seeks to place his audience within that dream. His evocative images compel us toward experiences that combine described reality with surreal impossibilities and dreamlike remembrances. Serra-Badué's world is a world of dreamt reality.

This study examines the social changes that took place in Southern Rhodesia after the arrival of the British South Africa Company in the 1890s. Summer’s work focuses on interactions among settlers, the officials of the British South America Company and the administration, missionaries, humanitarian groups in Britain, and the most vocal or noticeable groups of Africans. Through this period of military conquest and physical coercion, to the later attempts at segregationist social engineering, the ideals and justifications of Southern Rhodesians changed drastically. The English translation of Foucault's unpublished French manuscript addressing Kant's statement on enlightenment appeared in 1984, 200 years after the publication of Kant's essay. Foucault meant to entitle his essay as Kant did, but instead he gave it the interested and partially correspondent title What is Enlightenment? This is only a partial correspondence, because the full title of Kant's essay is Beantwortung der Frage: Was ist Aufklärung? Foucault's title suppresses the fact that Kant's essay is not framed as a question, but as a definitive answer. This is present in the perfectiveness of the initial substantive; it is not an …

By interning at the State Headquarters of Senator Robb's office, I was able to learn the nature of the leader/ constituent relationship first hand. I witnessed first hand how the government can be responsive to its constituency. Daily, I witnessed the business of constituent services that Senator Robb's office offered, be it through special projects such as the Salem VA hospital investigation, the constant concentration on the constituent through casework, and the direct interaction with the constituent. According to Workforce 2000, a survey report on corporate responses to demographic and labor force trends, traditional minorities (defined as people of color, immigrants, and women) will compose up to 80 percent of the United States corporate workforce by the year 2000. This displays a significant change from earlier years, where the workforce was dominated by white American males. Because of this changing ethnic and racial mix of employees, companies are becoming more concerned with ethnic diversity and the changing needs of both individuals and companies. Prisons are veritable universities of crime. Within them young offenders learn both the values and the techniques of hardened criminals. In addition to these lessons in professional ethics and theory, aspiring criminals also get hands-on experience within prison walls, for prisons are also centers of criminal activity: drug and arms trafficking, rape, gang warfare, and murder. And, like all good universities, prisons help their proteges make the contacts they need to further their budding careers.

What sort of text is On the Genealogy of Morals, this work that Nietzsche called the "uncanniest" of all books? Is it only a book about morals, as the title might indicate? Even the superficial reader will see that much more is at stake, since questions concerning politics and aesthetics are prominent. Universally, male writers have tended to create images of women which reveal the familiar male tendency to view women merely as functionaries whose role basically is determined by male needs, male motivations, male fears, and male fantasies. When woman is submissive, docile and pure, she is to be protected and revered; then, she is the virgin/goddess. When she is assertive and strong, she is to be avoided and despised; then, she is the bitch/shrew. When she is passionate and active, she is to be resisted and feared; she is the whore/temptress.
